Utilization of Mobile Nutrition Applications by Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 7, or 30 million United States of America adults have chronic kidney disease (CKD). The main causes of kidney disease are high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity.1 As CKD progresses, adherence to a renal diet is recommended. This consists of monitoring dietary protein, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, and fluid. Owing to the complexity of the renal diet, patients may feel overwhelmed, which is a strong factor in dietary noncompliance.
