Oral lichen planus among patients from Lublin Region in relation to 25-hydroxy-vitamin D3 serum level
CONCLUSIONS: The study enhances relationship between reduced levels of vitamin D3 and lichen planus in patients with oral lesions. Thus, vitamin D3 control and supplementation may play an important role in the treatment of lichen planus.PMID:38549488 | DOI:10.26444/aaem/169166 (Source: Annals of Agricultural and Environmental Medicine : AAEM)

Effect of vitamin D3 supplementation on blood parameters and liver gene expression in female rats
CONCLUSIONS: Our results support the anti-inflammatory, anitioxidant and anticholesterologenic potential of vitamin D but suggest that high doses of vitamin D are needed to obtain significant results in this regard.PMID:38536498 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-024-09408-6 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

Inhibition of SPARC signal by aerobic exercise to ameliorate atherosclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggested that aerobic exercise ameliorated hyperlipidemia and AS by effectively inhibiting SPARC signal, and vascular smooth muscle cells may contribute greatly to the protection of AS.PMID:38537537 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2024.111856 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Recurrent severe hypocalcemia following chemotherapy regimen changes in advanced breast cancer: two case reports
ConclusionsWe observed two cases of recurrent severe hypocalcemia in patients with advanced breast cancer and bone metastases after modifications to their therapy regimens. These cases differed from the typical hypocalcemia induced by bone-modifying agents. It is possible that antitumor drugs affect calcium and bone metabolism associated with bone metastases. While these cases are rare, it is crucial for oncologists to be aware of hypocalcemia not only at the initiation of bone-modifying agents but also throughout the entire antitumor therapy, as hypocalcemia can lead to fatal outcomes. Recurrent Duodenal Ulceration —More Than Simple Peptic Ulcer Disease?
Question: A 77-year-old man with a pertinent medical history of dementia, recurrent small bowel obstruction resulting in small bowel resection secondary to intraabdominal adhesions related to a previous hernia repair resulting in small bowel resection, and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) –associated peptic ulcer disease presented with sharp epigastric abdominal pain, nausea, watery nonbloody diarrhea (approximately 4 bowel movements daily), weight loss, and intolerance to oral intake. Before admission, his medication regimen was 40 mg oral omeprazole daily, 1 g metformin twice dai ly, 1000 U cholecalciferol da...
