Clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of endometrial stromal sarcoma and undifferentiated uterine sarcoma confirmed by central pathologic review: A multi-institutional retrospective study from the Japanese Clinical Oncology Group
CONCLUSIONS: Prognosis of LGESS is generally good; however, stage IV, incomplete surgery, and PgR-negative tumors are associated with poor prognosis. Adjuvant chemotherapy may be useful for HGESS. Prognosis of UUS is extremely poor, even with adjuvant chemotherapy.PMID:37478616 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.07.002 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Impact of Hospital Case Volume on Uterine Sarcoma Prognosis: SARCUT Study Subanalysis
CONCLUSIONS: The prognosis for patients with uterine sarcoma is directly related to complete tumor cytoreduction, histologic type, and FIGO stage, with significant differences between low and high case-volume centers. Patients with uterine sarcomas should be centralized in HighCV centers to improve their oncologic outcomes.PMID:37460742 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13826-4 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Naldemedine-induced opioid withdrawal with restlessness as the predominant symptom in a palliative care setting
We report a terminally ill cancer patient who was diagnosed with opioid withdrawal syndrome (OWS) based on symptoms centered around restlessness and sweating that developed 43 days after administration of naldemedine for OIC.RESULTS: The patient was a 78-year-old woman who was diagnosed with stage IVB uterine sarcoma in October, 1 year prior to her visit to our clinic, and underwent chemotherapy after surgery, but the disease became progressive. Thereafter, metastasis to the fourth thoracic vertebrae (Th4) was identified, and loxoprofen and acetaminophen were started for pain at the metastatic site. Oxycodone hydrochloride...

Uterine sarcomas: A critical review of the literature
Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol. 2023 Jun 17;287:166-170. doi: 10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.06.016. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis review aims to provide a comprehensive description of surgical approaches for the management of uterine sarcomas. Uterine sarcomas are rare uterine neoplasms. Frequently, diagnosis is made after hysterectomy or myomectomy scheduled for presumed benign leiomyomas. The gold standard for surgical treatment of uterine sarcomas is hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. It is possible to adopt a fertility-sparing approach for those patients who wish to maintain their fertility. The role of ...

The gold standard for surgical treatment of uterine sarcomas is hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. The role of pelvic lymphadenectomy is controversial; in fact, removal of lymph nodes is only recommended in the case of radiological sus...

Uterine mesenchymal tumors: development and preliminary results of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) diagnostic algorithm
ConclusionsUterine leiomyomas and sarcomas often show an overlap of clinical and imaging features. The application of a diagnostic algorithm can help radiologists to standardize their approach to a complex myometrial mass and to easily identify suspicious MRI features favoring malignancy.
