The Spectrum of Fusions Occurring in Non-Smooth Muscle Mesenchymal Uterine Tumors: A Review of the Current Knowledge
CONCLUSIONS.—: One hundred ten fusions were identified in 703 tumors. The diagnostic significance of the molecular aberrations occurring in these tumors can be unclear in some cases. This can be related to the rare aberrations with a limited number of reported cases. Additionally, even well-known aberrations considered as specific for a certain distinct entity can occur in more lesions, the biological behavior and clinical significance of which can differ substantially.PMID:38484759 | DOI:10.5858/arpa.2023-0324-RA (Source: Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine)

Intravenous metastasis of unexpected uterine sarcoma in the context of uterine fibroids: case report and literature review
ConclusionThis case report highlights the importance of pathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular aspects of this rare tumor involving the inferior vena cava and showing the presence of atypical gene mutations. The successful treatment outcome further emphasizes the importance of advances in diagnostic modalities for managing rare tumors like this. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Can the risks associated with uterine fibroids morcellation be prevented?
In this study, we evaluate the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic myomectomy, LSH, TLH and laparotomy in management of uterine fibroids and risk of uterine sarcoma. A retrospective observational study was conducted. We examined all clinical charts of women who had undergone laparoscopy and laparotomy due to uterine bleeding or uterine fibroids. The automatic diagnosis artificial intelligence system for preoperative magnetic resonance imaging of uterine sarcoma
CONCLUSION: Our newly established AI system automatically extracts tumor sites from MRI images and diagnoses them as uterine sarcomas without human intervention. Its accuracy is comparable to that of a radiologist. With further validation, the system could be applied for diagnosis of other diseases. Further improvement of the system's accuracy may enable its clinical application in the future.PMID:38246183 | DOI:10.3802/jgo.2024.35.e24 (Source: Journal of Gynecologic Oncology)

NTRK-rearranged spindle cell sarcoma of the uterine cervix with a novel NUMA1::NTRK1 fusion
AbstractNTRK-rearranged uterine sarcoma is a recently described entity that represents a subset of uterine sarcomas with distinct clinicopathological features. From a molecular point of view, this tumour is defined byNTRK gene rearrangement, resulting in overexpression or constitutive activation of Trk receptors. The presence ofNTRK fusion is indicative of treatment response with a selective small-molecule inhibitor of the Trk kinases. Here, we report a case of anNTRK-rearranged sarcoma of the uterine cervix in a 43-year-old patient, measuring 80  mm in its largest dimension, with a novelNUMA1-NTRK1 fusion, not previously...
