Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2021 Feb 12;2021:6628561. doi: 10.1155/2021/6628561. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTInflammation response is a regulated cellular process and excessive inflammation has been recognized in numerous diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer. Tribulus terrestris L. (TT), also known as Bai Jili in Chinese, has been applied in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years while its anti-inflammatory activity and underlying mechanism are not fully elucidated. Here, we hypothesize Tribulus terrestris L. extract (BJL) which prese...

Molecules, Vol. 26, Pages 408: Phytochemical and Biological Evaluation of a Newly Designed Nutraceutical Self-Nanoemulsifying Self-Nanosuspension for Protection and Treatment of Cisplatin Induced Testicular Toxicity in Male Rats
. Abdel-Monem The incorporation of cisplatin (CP) as a cytotoxic antineoplastic agent in most chemotherapeutic protocols is a challenge due to its toxic effect on testicular tissues. Natural compounds present a promising trend in research, so a new nutraceutical formulation (NCF) was designed to diminish CP spermatotoxicity. A combination of three nutraceutical materials, 250 mg Spirulina platensis powder (SP), 25 mg Tribulus terrestris L. extract (TT), and 100 mg fish oil (FO) were formulated in self-nanoemulsifying self-nanosuspension (SNESNS). SP was loaded into the optimized self-nanoemulsifying system (30% FO, 50%...

The Physico-Chemical studies of Khar-e-Khasak (Tribulus terrestris Linn.)
Khar-e-Khasak (Tribulus terrestris Linn) commonly known as Gokhru is an important drug of Unani Medicine. It has been described as diuretic, carminative, antiseptic and widely used by Unani Physicians in various gastrointestinal ailments. In this paper studies carried out to determine the ash values, extractive values, fluorescence analysis and thin layer chromatographic parameters are reported which were performed to standardize the fruit of the plant for its purity. Tribulus terrestris ameliorates carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in male rats through suppression of oxidative stress and inflammation.
Abstract Hepatoprotection is a goal for the harmful effect of several hepatotoxic agents. The present study has been executed to assess the useful impacts of Tribulus terrestris (TT) and silymarin (SLM) against carbon tetrachloride (CCL4)-induced hepatotoxicity. Forty-two male rats were partitioned into six groups: group I: received 0.3% CMC-Na in distilled water, group II: TT (500 mg/kg BW, orally), group III: SLM (200 mg/kg, orally) for 14 consecutive days (on days 11 and 12 intraperitoneal corn oil), group IV: CCL4, group V: TT (500 mg/kg BW) plus CCL4, and group VI: SLM (200 mg/kg orally) plus CCL4...

Effect of Tribulus Terrestris L. on Expression of ICAM-1, VCAM-1, E-Selectin and Proteome Profile of Human Endothelial Cells In-Vitro.
CONCLUSION: TT extract and its saponin fraction exerted anti-inflammatory effects on HUVEC and HBMEC lines and reduced the expression of ICAM-1, VCAM-1, and E-selectin. However, the anti-inflammatory effect of aqueous extract was greater than that of saponin fraction. Therefore, TT could be considered as a potential candidate for the treatment or prevention of atherosclerosis. PMID: 32224542 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Iranian Journal of Immunology)
