Modulating the doping state of transition metal ions in ZnS for enhanced photocatalytic activity
Chem Commun (Camb). 2023 Sep 4. doi: 10.1039/d3cc03436d. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTransition metal ions (M = Ag+, Cu2+, Co2+, and Cr3+) are surface or homogeneously doped into ZnS via facile cation-exchange reaction, and while Ag+ and Cu2+ doping does not induce sulphur vacancies (Vs) or zinc vacancies (VZn), Co2+ and Cr3+ doping induces Vs. The surface doped catalysts exhibit greatly higher activity than the ZnS and homogenous doped catalysts for H2 evolution and CO2 reduction. The important role of the doping state on affecting the photo-absorption, carrier separation efficiency, and photoreaction kinetics has been ...

Homeopathic Treatment of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome: A Case Report
CONCLUSION: This case report highlights an exceptional instance of RHS recovery within a relatively short timeframe, achieved through the administration of individualized homeopathic therapy. The favorable outcomes observed in this case underscore the potential of homeopathy as a promising alternative intervention for RHS management. Nevertheless, further systematic investigations are imperative to comprehensively evaluate the scope and applicability of homeopathy in the treatment of RHS.PMID:37660686 | DOI:10.1159/000533849 (Source: Herpes)

Prussian Blue-Type Sodium-ion Conducting Solid Electrolytes for All Solid-State Batteries
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2023 Aug 28:e202309852. doi: 10.1002/anie.202309852. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTConventional solid electrolyte frameworks typically consist of anions such as sulphur, oxygen, chlorine, and others, leading to inherent limitations in their properties. Despite the emergence of sulphide, oxide, and halide-based solid electrolytes for all-solid-state batteries, their utilization is hampered by issues, including the evolution of H2S gas, the need for expensive elements, and poor contact. Here, we first introduce Prussian Blue analogue (PBA) open-framework structures as a solid electrolyte that demonstr...

Weathering alters the profile of trace metals and organic compounds in leachates and bioavailability extracts from microplastics of trail running shoes
In this study, we characterised changes in the surface morphology, functional groups, and thermal stability of MPs weathered on and below the soil surface over 12 weeks, and analysed inorganic and organic additives in leachates (0.01M CaCl2) and bioaccessibility extracts (ethyl acetate). Weathering conditions included UVC irradiation at 25 °C and 80% soil moisture. Microplastics on the soil surface exhibited cracking, fragmentation, and increased extractability of zinc, sulphur, titanium and fatty acids. Microplastics below the soil surface were not significantly physically or chemically altered, however zinc leachability...

Synthetic Strategies of N-Heterocyclic Olefin (NHOs) and Their Recent Application of Organocatalytic Reactions and Beyond
Chemistry. 2023 Aug 22:e202302106. doi: 10.1002/chem.202302106. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTN-heterocyclic olefins (NHOs) derivatives have an electron-rich as well as highly polarized carabon-carbon (C=C) double bond because of the electron-donating nature of nitrogen and sulphur atoms. While NHOs have been developing as novel organocatalysts and ligands for transition metal complexes in various organic compound syntheses, different research groups are currently interested in preparing imidazole and triazolium-based chiral NHO catalysts. Some of them have been used for enantioselective organic transformations, but were s...
