Spectral features related to the auditory perception of twang-like voices
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the intra-rater reliability scores, four judges were identified as suitable to be included in the analyses. Results showed that the frequency of F1 and F2 correlated strongly with the auditory-perception of twang-like voices (0.90 and 0.74, respectively), whereas F3 showed a moderate negative correlation (-0.52). The frequency difference between F1 and F3 showed a strong negative correlation (-0.82). The mean energy between 1-2 kHz and 2-3 kHz correlated moderately (0.51 and 0.42, respectively). The frequency of F4 and F5, and the energy above 3 kHz showed weak correlations. Since the spectral changes...

Translation and validation of traditional Chinese version of the pediatric eating assessment Tool-10
CONCLUSIONS: The Traditional Chinese version of the Pedi-EAT-10 has fair reliability and validity and can be quickly and easily completed by caregivers. The translated Ped-EAT-10 can be used as a first-line tool for assessing the need for further referral and instrumental examination.PMID:38653676 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2024.04.010 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)

Connected Speech Fluency in Poststroke and Progressive Aphasia: A Scoping Review of Quantitative Approaches and Features
CONCLUSIONS: Data from this review demonstrate the feasibility and utility of quantitative approaches to index connected speech fluency in PSA and PPA. We identified emergent trends toward automated analysis methods and data-driven approaches, which offer promising avenues for clinical translation of quantitative approaches. There is a further need for improved consensus on which subset of individual features might be most clinically useful for assessment and monitoring of fluency.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.25537237.PMID:38652820 | DOI:10.1044/2024_AJSLP-23-00208 (Source: American Journal of Speec...

Meeting speech, language and communication needs: a whole-systems, population-based approach
This article sets out the case for taking a population-health based approach to anticipating need and building whole systems around children in their functional contexts, whether home, early years setting, school or further education. The demand on services providing speech and lang uage therapy continues to increase year on year. Using a population-health approach to predicting areas of higher anticipated SLCN and establishing robust collaborative approaches to improving the context for children and young people vulnerable to SLCN, there is the potential to address a significa nt number needs within everyday contexts. (So...
