Incidence and risk factors of PICC-related thrombosis in breast cancer: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The incidence rate of peripherally inserted central catheter-related thrombosis in breast cancer patients was 7.0% (95% confidence interval: 4.0-13.0%). Body mass index ≥ 25, D-dimer >500 ng/ml, elevated fibrinogen, elevated platelet count and catheter malposition were risk factors for peripherally inserted central catheter-related thrombosis in breast cancer patients.PMID:38711392 | DOI:10.1093/jjco/hyae055 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Comparison of outcomes between stent retriever combined with contact aspiration versus contact aspiration alone in patients without hyperdense artery sign/susceptibility vessel sign
To examine the relationship between hyperdense artery sign/susceptibility vessel sign (HAS/SVS) and thrombus composition, and evaluate the effect of HAS/SVS status on the association between first-line thrombectomy techniques and outcomes in patients with acute anterior-circulation large vessel occlusion (LVO). Can resistance prehabilitation training bring additional benefits in valvular cardiac surgery? protocol for a randomized controlled trial
by Jorge Montero-C ámara, Francisco José Ferrer-Sargues, María José Segrera Rovira, Adrián Sarria Cabello, David Cuesta Peredo, Juan Antonio Margarit Calabuig, Noemí Valtueña-Gimeno, María Luz Sánchez-Sánchez IntroductionCardiovascular diseases (CVD) are a group of illnesses that include coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, congenital heart disease and deep vein thrombosis. Major surgery is often chosen as the treatment of choice for CVD. The concept of fast-track rehabilitation after surgery appeared in the 1970s. Participation in these exercise-based prehabilitation programmes may decrease postopera...

Venous thromboembolism in Black COVID-19 patients in a minority context compared to White, Asian and other racialized patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
COVID-19 has disproportionately affected racialized populations, with particular impact among individuals of Black individuals. However, it is unclear whether disparities in venous thromboembolic (VTE) complications exist between Black individuals and those belonging to other racial groups with confirmed SARS-CoV2 infections. Illusion of revascularization: does anyone achieve optimal revascularization during percutaneous coronary intervention?
Nature Reviews Cardiology, Published online: 07 May 2024; doi:10.1038/s41569-024-01014-0In 1993, Lincoff and Topol claimed that the thrombolytic treatment of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction was suboptimal in many patients and gave an ‘illusion of reperfusion’. In this Perspective article, the authors propose that a similar illusion of revascularization exists for contemporary percutaneous revascularization in patients with coronary artery disease and ischaemia, and identify how outcomes might be improved.
