Neuropathology of Pediatric SARS-CoV-2 Infection in the Forensic Setting: Novel Application of Ex Vivo Imaging in Analysis of Brain Microvasculature
We report 8 such cases (4 infants aged 7–36 weeks, 4 children aged 5–15 years). Four underwent ex vivo magnetic resonance neuroimaging, to assist in identification of subtle lesions related to vascular compromise. All infants were found unresponsive (3 in unsafe sleeping conditions); all but 1 had recent rhinitis and/or influenza-like illness (ILI) in the family; 1 had history of sickle cell disease. Risk of Hemorrhagic Stroke in Patients With Coronavirus Disease 2019
To the Editor We read with interest the article by Merkler et al regarding the increased incidence of ischemic stroke in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) compared with those with influenza. The authors also reported that 13% of patients with COVID-19 were receiving anticoagulation at the time of the stroke. Could the authors comment on the rate of anticoagulant use in patients with COVID-19 who did not have an ischemic stroke? This would also be helpful to assess the possibility that anticoagulation may have been protective.

Complete Oculomotor Palsy after Influenza Vaccination in a Young Healthy Adult: A Case Report
We present a case report of a 25-year-old woman without any medical history who developed complete oculomotor palsy 2 weeks after influenza vaccination. Other possible causes of oculomotor nerve palsy, such as stroke, compressive lesions, infections, and autoimmune disorders, were eliminated by blood tests, cerebrospinal fluid examination, and imaging studies. Multiple Border-Zone Infarcts Triggered by Influenza A Virus Infection in a Patient With Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy Presenting With Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy
We report the case of a 41-year-old woman with CADASIL who developed multiple border-zone infarcts due to influenza A virus infection. The patient had no apparent history or episode of stroke or altered consciousness following the onset of respiratory symptoms, which were due to the influenza A infection.

Air pollution and humidity as triggering factors for stroke. Results of a 12-year analysis in the West Paris area.

The association of adult vaccination with the risk of cerebrovascular ischemia: A systematic review and meta-analysis
There is mounting evidence supporting infection as an independent risk factor for ischemic stroke (IS), while preliminary data indicate that vaccination may prevent IS. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of available randomized clinical trials (RCTs) or prospective observational cohorts reporting associations of influenza vaccination (IV) and/or pneumococcal vaccination (PV) with IS. Increased Plasma Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Levels Contribute to Intracerebral Hemorrhage during Thrombolysis after Concomitant Stroke and Influenza Infection
Conclusion: Preexisting influenza A virus infection led to increased plasma MMP-9 and TIMP-1 levels in mice undergoing thrombolysis after induced stroke. MMP-9 levels closely correlated with intracerebral bleeding after thrombolysis during concomitant infection and stroke. Thus, our data indicate that thrombolysis may be dangerous during influenza infection. A reversible stroke-like splenial lesion in viral encephalopathy.
CONCLUSION: Our case confirmed with previous findings that a reversible stroke-like splenial lesion could be seen in virus related encephalopathy and regarded as a good prognosis marker.
