Elevated white blood cell counts in ischemic stroke patients are associated with increased mortality and new vascular events
ConclusionElevated WBC levels in ischemic stroke patients are linked to a higher risk of new vascular events and mortality. Thus, ischemic stroke patients with elevated WBC without clinical infection need special attention to investigate possible underlying conditions to prevent future vascular events and reduce mortality. The interpretation of our results is limited by the absence of adjustment to premorbid functional status, stroke severity, and stroke treatment.

Predictors of quality of life at 6 months in patients with mild stroke: A prospective observational cohort study
Stroke can result in several functional impairments.1 Functional impairments could reduce the quality of life (QoL) to some extent in patients with stroke.2,3 Therefore, predicting factors affecting the QoL of patients with stroke is important for stroke rehabilitation. Notably, several studies have been conducted to predict factors affecting the QoL of patients with stroke.4 –10 These studies have reported that the QoL of patients with stroke was determined by age and sex,4 stroke type,5 stroke side,6 hospitalization period,7 and stroke severity.

Do cerebrovascular risk factors impact the clinical expression of idiopathic isolated adult-onset dystonia?
Although acquired dystonia may develop following ischaemic/haemorrhagic stroke, the relationship between cerebrovascular disease and idiopathic dystonia has been poorly investigated. This cross sectional study aimed at evaluating the impact of cerebrovascular risk factors on the clinical expression of idiopathic adult onset dystonia (IAOD), with reference to dystonia localization and dystonia-associated features.

The impact of off-hour mechanical thrombectomy therapy on outcomes for acute ischemic stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis
The impact of off-hours and on-hours mechanical thrombectomy (MT) treatment for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is not well understood. We conducted a systematic review and met-analysis comparing outcomes between patients undergoing off-hours MT versus on-hours MT.

Transcriptomics and translatomics identify a robust inflammatory gene signature in brain endothelial cells after ischemic stroke
Vascular endothelial function is challenged during cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. The endothelial responses are involved in inflammatory leukocyte attraction, adhesion and infiltration, blood –brain barrier...
