Valproic acid ameliorates ischemic brain injury in hyperglycemic rats with permanent middle cerebral occlusion.
In this study, we investigate the effects of VPA on permanent ischemic stroke with hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia was induced by streptozotocin (STZ) injection 3 days before. Test animals received a single injection of VPA immediately after induction of ischemia. Control animals received occlusion and physiological saline injection, or STZ, occlusion, and saline. Magnetic resonance imaging of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) was performed 60min after ischemia. Carotid plaque thickness is positively associated with decreased bone mineral density (P2.264)

Activation of the phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase pathway plays important roles in reduction of cerebral infarction by cilnidipine
In this study, we investigated whether cilnidipine has therapeutic effects in an animal model of cerebral infarction. After determination of the most effective dose of cilnidipine, a total of 128 rats were subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion. Neurobehavioral function test and brain MRI were performed, and rats with similar sized infarcts were randomized to either the cilnidipine group or the control group. Activation of the calcium-sensing receptor promotes apoptosis by modulating the JNK/p38 MAPK pathway in focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in mice.

Long-term outcomes of lercanidipine versus other calcium channel blockers in newly-diagnosed hypertension: a nationwide cohort study.

Association between Intracranial Atherosclerotic Calcium Burden and Angiographic Luminal Stenosis Measurements ADULT BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: There is a weak correlation between intracranial atherosclerotic calcium scores and luminal narrowing, which may be explained by the greater sensitivity of CT than angiography in detecting the presence of measurable atherosclerotic disease. Future studies are warranted to evaluate the relationship between stenosis and calcium burden in predicting stroke risk.

Effects of Kudiezi Injection on Serum Inflammatory Biomarkers in Patients with Acute Cerebral Infarction.
