Cerebrovascular accident in a child with precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and coronavirus disease 2019: a case report
ConclusionOwing to the link between coronavirus disease 2019 and hematologic cancers with hypercoagulopathy and the tendency of patients with leukemia to have coronavirus disease 2019 complications, children with leukemia as well as suspected coronavirus disease 2019 must be hospitalized to prevent blood clot formation.

Neurological manifestations in COVID-19 in three waves of the pandemic: An inpatient study from India
Conclusion: SARS-CoV-2 produces many central and peripheral nervous system manifestations. Encephalopathy was more common in first wave while acute symptomatic seizures were more common in third wave. Encephalopathy was most common neurological manifestation with progressively higher mortality with increased number of systemic comorbidities. Ischemic stroke was seen in patients who had vascular risk factors as well as in patients without them.

Neurological manifestations of COVID-19: a retrospective observational study based on 1060 patients with a narrative review
CONCLUSION: Our data are coherent with the published literature. Knowledge of these patterns will make clinicians consider COVID-19 infection when unexplained neurological findings are encountered.PMID:36451533 | DOI:10.1177/02841851221138557

A Novel Anti-Thrombotic, Glenzocimab, in Covid-19 acute respiratory distress syndrome (Cov-ARDS).
Conclusion: The GARDEN study was set up to tackle a global Public Health emergency. Glenzocimab was safe in doses three times higher than used in stroke. Albeit efficacy was not shown, overall, GARDEN provides insights into Cov-ARDS.

Neurological Complications and Consequences of the Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 Infection in Elderly and Senile Patients (Literature Review)
AbstractBased on available publications, the article systematizes information about some forms of lesions of the central nervous system (CNS), their pathogenesis and clinical manifestations in the case of COVID-19. The risk factors, mechanisms of development, diagnostic approach, and the age characteristics of patients with neurological complications of COVID-19 are discussed. The specific mechanisms of the neuroinvasiveness and neurovirulence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, regardless of the age of patients and the presence of risk factors, lead to systemic damage to the endothelium of small-caliber vessels, generalized thrombov...

SARS-CoV-2 infection increases risk of intracranial hemorrhage
We examined 21 patients suffering from stroke and intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) and 9 (43%) of them were male. We compared relative frequencies using Fisher’s exact test. As we had few observations and many variables, we used principal component analysis (PCA) to reduce data dimensionality. We trained a linear support vector machine (SVM) on the first two PCs of the laboratory data to predict COVID-19.ResultsPatients suffering from stroke had either hypertension or SARS-CoV-2 infection, but seldom both (OR = 0.05, p = 0.0075). The presence of SARS-CoV-2 infection was strongly associated with the logarithm of CRP (p = 1.4...

Repeated cardiopulmonary performance measurements in young competitive handball players with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection
ConclusionsThe physical performance of young athletes infected with SARS-CoV-2 was impaired. This decreased performance is probably due to cardiac and/or peripheral deconditioning. Studies with larger cohorts are needed to make more profound conclusions.

Incidence of acute symptomatic seizures
in patients with covid-19: a single-center study
Acta Clin Croat. 2021 Dec;60(Suppl 3):50-56. doi: 10.20471/acc.2021.60.s3.07.ABSTRACTThe most common neurological symptoms in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection are headache, myalgia, encephalopathy, dizziness, dysgeusia and anosmia, making more than 90 percent of neurological manifestations of COVID-19. Other neurological manifestations such as stroke, movement disorder symptoms or epileptic seizures are rare but rather devastating, with possible lethal outcome. The primary aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of acute symptomatic seizures among COVID-19 patients, while secondary aim was to determine their pos...

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 8094: Neuropeptides, New Ligands of SARS-CoV-2 Nucleoprotein, a Potential Link between Replication, Inflammation and Neurotransmission
Slama Schwok This work identifies new ligands of the nucleoprotein N of SARS-CoV-2 by in silico screening, which used a new model of N, built from an Alphafold model refined by molecular dynamic simulations. The ligands were neuropeptides, such as substance P (1-7) and enkephalin, bound at a large site of the C-terminal or associated with the N-terminal β−sheet. The BA4 and BA5 Omicron variants of N also exhibited a large site as in wt N, and an increased flexibility of the BA5 variant, enabling substance P binding. The binding sites of some ligands deduced from modeling in wt N were assessed...
