The impact of leptomeningeal collaterals in acute ischemic stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsThe relative risk of favorable clinical outcome is more in patients with good pretreatment CBF. This could be explained due to better chances of recanalization combined with a lesser risk of intracerebral hemorrhage with good CBF status.

The PRESTO study: awareness of stroke symptoms and time from onset to intervention
In conclusion, our results may suggest that an informative campaign can be successf ul in making people rapidly aware of stroke onset, with the consequent rapid access to hospitals. Considering the changing of way of access to information, we think that an extensive multimedia campaign should be evaluated in the next future.

Prevalence and the age of onset patterns of stroke in Jiangsu Province, China
ConclusionsThe findings emphasize the importance of implementing stroke prevention interventions in Jiangsu Province, China, especially for urban, smoking, and drinking males. It is of great significance to strengthen comprehensive management of health-related behaviors, including smoking cessation and moderate consumption of alcohol to have sustained beneficial effects on stroke risk.Chenlu He and Qian Chen contributed equally to this work.

Aseptic meningitis in Fabry disease due to a novel GLA variant: an expanded phenotype?
ConclusionWe described aseptic meningitis in a family with a novelGLA variant. Meningitis might be a common phenomenon in FD and not a particularity of this variant. Understanding the mechanisms underlying meningitis and its association with cerebrovascular events may lead to a new paradigm of treatment for stroke in these patients. Further prospective studies with CSF collection in patients with FD and recurrent headache could help to elucidate this question.

Stroke prevention and therapy awareness in a large sample of high school students: results of an educational campaign in the Northern-Western Italy
Discussion and conclusionWe demonstrated that our educational campaign obtained an important improvement of stroke awareness in our sample. Girl students, Lyceum students, and less young students attained significant better knowledge improvement. We hope that the enhanced awareness might induce a more frequent diffusion of prevention strategies, an increased capacity of recognizing onset stroke symptoms with shortening of patients ’ presentation in the emergency room of the hospitals when they can undergo reperfusion treatments.

The stroke mechanism, clinical presentation, and radiological feature of bilateral medial medullary infarction
ConclusionBMMI is more frequently located in the rostral medulla and comprises three forms of infarction. The two main stroke etiologies of BMMI are large-artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and small vessel disease (SVD). BMMI is always associated with bad clinical outcome.

Advanced molecular therapies for neurological diseases: focus on stroke, alzheimer's disease, and parkinson's disease
AbstractNeurological diseases (NDs) are one of the leading causes of disability and the second leading cause of death globally. Among these stroke, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and Parkinson's disease (PD) are the most common NDs. A rise in the absolute number of individuals affected with these diseases indicates that the current treatment strategies in management and prevention of these debilitating diseases are not effective sufficiently. Therefore, novel treatment strategies are being explored to cure these diseases by addressing the causative mechanisms at the molecular level. Advanced therapies like gene therapy (gene ed...

The Dutch Oxford Cognitive Screen (OCS-NL): psychometric properties in Flemish stroke survivors
ConclusionsOur results suggest that the OCS-NL is a reliable cognitive screen that can be used in acute stroke and rehabilitation units. The OCS-NL may be more sensitive to detect cognitive impairment in young stroke patients and less likely to underestimate cognitive abilities in left-hemispheric stroke patients than the MoCA.

Sinus arrest following acute lateral medullary infarction
We report a case of LMS-associated autonomic dysregulation. The case presented by recurrent syncope, requiring permanent pacemaker placement. This case shows the importance of recognizing LMS as a potential cause of life-threatening arrhythmias, heart block, an d symptomatic bradycardia. Extended cardiac monitoring should be considered for patients with medullary strokes.
