Statins side effects 'have been overstated,' says study
Conclusion
This is a complex study that provides a plausible explanation for the difference in reports of adverse effects of statins in RCTs and observational studies, some of which have suggested as many as 1 in 5 people get side effects from statins.
However, we need to be aware of some limitations and unanswered questions:
When people knew they were taking statins, they were more likely to report muscle pain than those not taking statins. But they were less likely to report muscle pain than in the first phase of the study, when they didn't know whether they were taking statins or placebo. We don't know why this is.

Ischemic stroke in a patient with Parry-Romberg syndrome (P4.064)
Conclusions:The only other reported patient with PRS and stroke was also found to have a PFO. It is possible that the elevated ANA seen in this patient correlates with propensity towards small venous clots not seen on ultrasound. This may lead to paradoxical emboli and ischemic strokes. It is important to note this potential association between PRS and ischemic stroke in young patients without other known risk factors. Effect of Prior Atorvastatin Treatment on the Frequency of Hospital Acquired Pneumonia and Evolution of Biomarkers in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Multicenter Prospective Study.
Conclusions. Prior atorvastatin treatment in patients with ischemic stroke was associated with a lower concentration of IL-6 and TNF-α and improved the outcome of VAP. This clinical study has been registered with ChiCTR-ROC-17010633 in Chinese Clinical Trial Registry.

This is a high-quality, well-conducted randomised controlled trial conducted in a very large number of people across multiple countries.
To date, it's remained uncertain whether evolocumab reduces the risk of cardiovascular events.
This study provides good evidence that the drug reduces the risk of major cardiovascular events in people with high LDL cholesterol levels, and with a high risk of having a cardiovascular event, who are already taking statins.

We report a polymorbid 75-year old male under a therapy with dabigatran, valsartan, amlodipine, nicorandil, furosemide, atorvastatin, bisoprolol, metformin, tizanidine, pantoprazole, and tramadol. He suffered from chest pain for 4 months. Coronary angiography showed only ectatic coronary arteries. He started taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Conclusion In contrast to the prior observational and trial data, the LOAD trial has neutral results and did not demonstrate a reduction in major cardiovascular complications after a short-term perioperative course of statin in statin-naïve patients undergoing noncardiac surgery. We demonstrated, however, that a large multicenter blinded perioperative statin trial for high-risk statin-naïve patients is feasible and should be done to definitely establish the efficacy and safety of statin in this patient population.

Lipoprotein(a) concentrations, apolipoprotein(a) isoforms and clinical endpoints in haemodialysis patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: results from the 4D Study
Conclusions
High Lp(a) concentrations and LMW apo(a) isoforms are risk predictors for all-cause mortality and death due to infection in haemodialysis patients with diabetes mellitus. These associations are modified by age.
