Pharmacological and cardiovascular perspectives on the treatment of COVID-19 with chloroquine derivatives.
Abstract The novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and an ongoing severe pandemic. Curative drugs specific for COVID-19 are currently lacking. Chloroquine phosphate and its derivative hydroxychloroquine, which have been used in the treatment and prevention of malaria and autoimmune diseases for decades, were found to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection with high potency in vitro and have shown clinical and virologic benefits in COVID-19 patients. Therefore, chloroquine phosphate was first used in the treatment of COVID-19 in China. Later, under a lim...

Cost Effectiveness of Genotype-Guided Antiplatelet Therapy in Asian Ischemic Stroke Patients: Ticagrelor as an Alternative to Clopidogrel in Patients with CYP2C19 Loss of Function Mutations
ConclusionThis study suggests that it is cost effective to screen for LOF mutations in the CYP2C19 gene in ischemic stroke populations, with ticagrelor as a substitute for clopidogrel in those with LOF mutations.

Rates and Anticoagulation Treatment of Known Atrial Fibrillation in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Real-World Study
ConclusionsThis study revealed a low known AF rate, low OACs use rate and low rate of meeting the guideline-based criteria for OACs in AIS patients with AF in the northwest region of China. These findings indicated the importance of AF as a public health problem in China.

Systems Pharmacology Dissection of Mechanisms of Dengzhan Xixin Injection against Cardiovascular Diseases.
Abstract Dengzhan Xixin injection (DZXXI), a herbal product prepared from a Chinese herb called Erigeron breviscapus, is a classical and traditional therapeutic for cadiovascular diseases (CVDs), including coronary heart disease (CHD), angina, and stroke, etc. However, its potential pharmacology mechanism against CVDs remains unclear. In this paper, a systems pharmacology-based strategy is presented for predicting drug targets and understanding therapeutic mechanisms of DZXXI against CVDs. The main ingredients were identified by HPLC-diode array detector (DAD). The target fishing was performed on the PharmMapper S...

Body weight, CYP2C19 , and P2Y12 receptor polymorphisms relate to clopidogrel resistance in a cohort of Chinese ischemic stroke patients with aspirin intolerance
ConclusionsThe patients with high body weight, theCYP2C19 phenotypes, andP2Y12 receptor (52 G>T) variant alleles are at risk of CR during clopidogrel treatment in Chinese IS patients with aspirin intolerance. The higher body weight and relevant polymorphisms may help to predict CR in Chinese IS patients with aspirin intolerance.

Efficacy and Safety of Xueshuantong Injection on Acute Cerebral Infarction: Clinical Evidence and GRADE Assessment
ConclusionsThis meta-analysis and GRADE assessment conditionally recommend that XST combined with CTs can increase the overall response rate, ameliorate neurological deficit, and improve activities of daily living function more than CTs alone. A significant reduction in the hs-CRP and IL-6 levels were observed when XST was combined with CTs.

Treating Different Diseases With the Same Method —A Traditional Chinese Medicine Concept Analyzed for Its Biological Basis
ConclusionBy using information extraction and complex network technology, we discovered the biological indicators of the TCM syndromes Qi deficiency and blood stasis of CHD and stroke. In the era of big data, our results can provide a new method for the researchers of TCM syndrome differentiation, as well as an effective and specific methodology for standardization of TCM.

Comparative Outcomes Between Direct Oral Anticoagulants, Warfarin, and Antiplatelet Monotherapy Among Chinese Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: A Population-Based Cohort Study
ConclusionAntiplatelet prescribing and suboptimal warfarin management remain common in Chinese patients with AF at high risk of stroke. DOAC use may be associated with a lower risk of ischemic stroke and all-cause mortality when compared with antiplatelets and with a lower risk of ICH when compared with warfarin.

Investigation of Invigorating Qi and Activating Blood Circulation Prescriptions in Treating Qi Deficiency and Blood Stasis Syndrome of Ischemic Stroke Patients: Study Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial
In this study, we intend to use similar prescriptions that invigorate Qi and activate blood circulation: Buyang Huanwu granules (BHG), Naoxintong capsules (NXTC), and Yangyin Tongnao granules (YTG). The goal is to evaluate their level of PSC inpatients with IS with QDBS syndrome and find relevant biomarkers to provide an objective basis for precise treatment of TCM and improve the clinical therapeutic effects. A multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled intervention trial will be conducted in IS patients with QDBS syndrome, followed by an add-on of Chinese patent medicine. A total of 160 subjects will...

Guanxin V for coronary artery disease: A retrospective study.
CONCLUSIONS: Superiority in the GXV group for patients with CAD was demonstrated over the GMT group for both the safety and effectiveness endpoints. This suggests that GXV is a potentially safe and effective treatment for CAD patients. PMID: 32485568 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
