Association of hemoglobin glycation index with outcomes of acute ischemic stroke in type 2 diabetic patients.

Epidemiology of Cerebrovascular Disease Among Chinese Canadian Adults With Type 2 Diabetes
Conclusion Chinese Canadians with diabetes who had ischemic strokes were especially susceptible to intracranial small vessel disease compared with non-Chinese Canadians. These results signify that risk factor prevalence and stroke types differ considerably between Chinese Canadians and non-Chinese Canadians residing in Toronto, warranting further study.

Establishment and validation of a prediction model for ischemic stroke risks in patients with type 2 diabetes
Diabetes is a formidable global health threat because of its high prevalence and numerous complications. Furthermore, diabetes is a leading cause of mortality and microvascular and macrovascular diseases, including coronary diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, and peripheral vascular diseases. A recent study reports that risk of stroke in patients with type 2 diabetes is two to five times higher than the general population[1]. The World Health Organization MONICA project reported that stroke incidence is higher among ethnic Chinese population than among Western population [2].

Prospective Study of Fasting Blood Glucose and Intracerebral Hemorrhagic Risk Clinical Sciences
The objective of the current study was to examine the potential impact of long-term fasting blood glucose concentration on subsequent risk of ICH.Methods—This prospective study included 96 110 participants of the Kailuan study, living in Kailuan community, Tangshan city, China, who were free of cardiovascular diseases and cancer at baseline (2006). Fasting blood glucose concentration was measured in 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012. Updated cumulative average fasting blood glucose concentration was used as primary exposure of the current study. Low triglyceride as a marker for increased risk of cardiovascular diseases in patients with long ‐term type 2 diabetes: a cross sectional survey in China
ConclusionsAlthough high triglyceride was associated with increased risk of CVD in short‐term T2DM, low triglyceride was associated with increased CVD risk in long‐term T2DM. Low triglyceride may be a marker of CVD risk in Chinese patients with long‐term T2DM.

Endocrine Disruptors and Health Effects in Africa: A Call for Action
Conclusion: To address the many challenges posed by EDCs, we argue that Africans should take the lead in prioritization and evaluation of environmental hazards, including EDCs.
