Dual therapy with an oral non-vitamin K antagonist and a P2Y12 inhibitor vs triple therapy with aspirin, a P2Y12 inhibitor and a vitamin K antagonist for the treatment of diabetes mellitus patients with co-existing atrial fibrillation following percutaneous coronary intervention: A meta-analysis
Conclusions: DT with a NOAC and a P2Y12 inhibitor was associated with significantly less bleeding events without increasing the adverse cardiovascular outcomes when compared to TT with aspirin, a P2Y12 inhibitor and a Vitamin K antagonist for the treatment of DM patients with co-existing AF following PCI. Hence, DT is comparable in efficacy, but safer compared to TT. This interesting hypothesis will have to be confirmed in future studies.

Guideline Adherence and Associated Outcomes in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients With an Incident Cardiovascular Comorbidity: An Analysis Based on a Large German Claims Dataset
ConclusionOnly a minority of patients with T2DM and an incident CV comorbidity receive a treatment fully adherent with guideline recommendations. This may contribute to high mortality rates in this population in clinical practice.

A network meta-analysis of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants versus warfarin in patients with atrial fibrillation and diabetes mellitus.
CONCLUSION: In patients suffering from AF and diabetes, dabigatran 110 mg (bid) was more likely to become the choice for its performance on preventing systemic embolism or stroke and major bleeding, followed by rivaroxaban 20 mg (QD). PMID: 33432890 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Vitamin K Antagonist Use and Risk for Intracranial Carotid Artery Calcification in Patients With Intracerebral Hemorrhage
Conclusions: Our findings do not support VKA use as an independent risk factor for higher ICAC degree in patients with ICH. We could not confirm the concerns about VKA use and intracranial carotid vascular calcification. We suggest further research in other cohorts with VKA users such as patients with ischemic stroke and atrial fibrillation.

Relationship Between Serum Alpha-Tocopherol and Overall and Cause-Specific Mortality.
CONCLUSIONS: In this long-term prospective cohort study, higher baseline serum α-tocopherol biochemical status was associated with lower risk of overall mortality and mortality from all major causes. Our data support the long-term health benefits of higher serum α-tocopherol for overall and chronic disease mortality and should be replicated in other more diverse populations.
