Normal and excessive muscle sympathetic nerve activity in heart failure: implications for future trials of therapeutic autonomic modulation
ConclusionBurst frequency and incidence exceeded normative values in only ~53% and ~33% of patients. Such diversity encourages selective deployment of sympatho-modulatory therapies. Clinical characteristics can highlight individuals who may benefit from future personalized interventions targeting pathological sympathetic activation.

Role of CHA2DS2-VASc score in predicting atrial fibrillation recurrence in patients undergoing pulmonary vein isolation with cryoballoon ablation
ConclusionsPVI-C is highly effective in the treatment of AF over the long term. A CHA2DS2-VASc score  ≥ 2 is an independent predictor of AF recurrence during the follow-up and should be considered during the clinical management after the index procedure.

Sixth Annual Pediatric Interagency Registry for Mechanical Circulatory Support (Pedimacs) Report
CONCLUSIONS: This Sixth Pedimacs Report demonstrates the continued evolution of the pediatric field. The complexity of cardiac physiologies and anatomical constraint mandates the need for multiple types of devices utilized (PC, PP, IC). Detailed analyses of each device type in this report provide valuable information to further advance the care of this challenging and vulnerable population.PMID:36402175 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2022.10.042

Atrial fibrillation and cognitive impairment: a narrative review
CONCLUSIONS: AF and CI are an important health problem worldwide and the demographic trend predicts exponential growth of both conditions in the coming years. Therefore, it seems necessary to increase our knowledge of the pathophysiological mechanisms related to them in order to establish effective preventive strategies.PMID:36354300 | DOI:10.33588/rn.7510.2022252
