Predicting 10-year stroke mortality: development and validation of a nomogram
AbstractPredicting long-term stroke mortality is a clinically important and unmet need. We aimed to develop and internally validate a 10-year ischaemic stroke mortality prediction score. In this UK cohort study, 10,366 patients with first-ever ischaemic stroke between January 2003 and December 2016 were followed up for a median (interquartile range) of 5.47 (2.96 –9.15) years. ConclusionFrom our study we can conclude that diabetes mellitus as a risk factor in cases of stroke leads to increase complications and worsens the outcome in cases of stroke whether hemorrhagic or ischemic.RecommendationsFrom our study we recommended strict control of diabetes mellitus when present in cases of stroke to avoid bad outcome and to prevent complications in these cases.

Progression of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke multimorbidity in middle-aged women: A 20-year cohort study
ConclusionsStroke was associated with increased risk of progression to diabetes or heart disease. Social inequality, obesity, hypertension, physical inactivity, smoking, or having other chronic conditions were also significantly associated with increased odds of accumulating multimorbidity. Our findings highlight the importance of awareness of the role of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke multimorbidity among middle-aged women for clinicians and health-promotion agencies.

Risk of Coronary Heart Disease and Ischemic Stroke Incidence in Gastric Cancer Survivors: A Nationwide Study in Korea.
CONCLUSIONS: CHD and ischemic stroke risk decreased after gastrectomy. The amount of weight loss and accompanying metabolic changes seemed to mediate the reduction of such risk. Reassessment of cardiovascular risk factors after gastrectomy and consideration of cardiovascular risk in the selection of treatment modality are suggested. Stroke Treatment and Prevention
Stroke is the leading cause of permanent disability in the United States (US). Each year approximately 795,000 people suffer from a stroke in the US, now being the number five cause of death behind heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, and accidents. In fact 1 in 20 people die from a stroke.1 In 2013 there were 6.5 million stroke deaths worldwide. On a global basis, stroke is the number two cause of death behind ischemic heart disease.2 The vast majority of strokes are ischemic (87%).
