Late Breaking Abstract - DCLK1 mediates thrombin-induced IL-8/CXCL8 expression in lung epithelial cells
Airway neutrophilia has been known correlated with asthma severity. Thrombin plays a crucial role in asthma. Thrombin can induce IL-8/CXCL8 expression, a potent chemoattractant for neutrophils, in lung epithelial cells. Doublecortin-like kinase 1 (DCLK1) is a protein kinase that has been identified as a tumor stem cell marker in colon and pancreatic cancer. Doublecortin-Like Kinase 1 (DCLK1) Is a Novel NOTCH Pathway Signaling Regulator in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma
In this study, we performed a comprehensive transcriptome-based computational analysis on hundreds of HNSCC patients from TCGA and GEO databases, and found that DCLK1 expression positively correlates with NOTCH signaling pathway activation. Since NOTCH signaling has a recognized role in HNSCC tumorigenesis, we next performed a series of in vitro experiments in a collection of HNSCC cell lines to investigate the role of DCLK1 in NOTCH pathway regulation. Extracellular vesicles from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells treated with siRNA against ELFN1-AS1 suppress colon adenocarcinoma proliferation and migration.
This study aimed to explore the regulatory role of ELFN1-AS1 in COAD and construct a gene delivery system based on extracellular vesicles (EVs). We found that ELFN1-AS1 levels were obviously increased in COAD patients and COAD tumor cells. Knockdown of ELFN1-AS1 expression by siRNA inhibited COAD cell proliferation and migration.
