A Case of Histologically Proven Recurrent Synovitis after Nivolumab Treatment
Intern Med. 2023 Jul 26. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.2221-23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 58-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis was diagnosed with methotrexate-associated Hodgkin lymphoma. After receiving several chemotherapy regimens, she started nivolumab treatment. Two weeks later, she was hospitalized with worsening finger, wrist, and elbow joint pain. A synovial biopsy of the wrist joint showed villous synovial proliferation and linear infiltration of CD68-/CD3-positive T cells (with more CD8 than CD4 T cells) but no CD20-positive B cells or CD138-positive macrophages. These findings corresponded to synovi...

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 3794: Small Cell Carcinoma of the Ovary, Hypercalcemic Type (SCCOHT): Patient Characteristics, Treatment, and Outcome & mdash;A Systematic Review
Conclusions: SCCOHT is a rare and aggressive ovarian cancer, with a poor prognosis, and information on adequate treatment for this cancer is lacking. The testing of mutations in SMARCA4 is crucial for an accurate diagnosis and may lead to new treatment options. Harmonization and international collaboration to obtain high-quality data on diagnostic investigations, treatment, and outcome are warranted to be able to develop international treatment guidelines to improve the survival chances of young women with SCCOHT.

Pain nursing for gynecologic cancer patients
Gynecological malignancy remains a prevalent cause of mortality among women. Chronic cancer pain, as a severe complication of malignancy and its therapies, accounts for a substantial burden of physical and psychological distress in affected patients. Accordingly, early identification, assessment, and standardized management of such pain are crucial in the prevention or delay of its progression. In the present review, we provide a comprehensive overview of the pathological factors that contribute to pain in patients with gynecological malignancy while highlighting the underlying mechanisms of pain in this population. In add...

Efficacy of smartphone-based virtual reality relaxation in providing comfort to patients with cancer undergoing chemotherapy in oncology outpatient setting in Indonesia: protocol for a randomised controlled trial
This study will be divided into two groups: (1) an intervention group, with participants receiving 360° panoramic video content and music relaxation intervention through a VR device (head-mounted display) placed on their head during chemotherapy for ±10 min plus standard care and (2) a control group, with participants receiving guided imagery relaxation therapy in the form of a leaflet plus standard care. We will measure the outcomes after one chemotherapy cycle for each participant. The primary outcome is the effectiveness of the S-VR in improving the comfort of patients. The secondary outcome is the effect of the S-VR ...

Bing-Neel syndrome with a paravertebral mass
We report a patient who presented with back pain, weakness, lower extremity numbness, and gait disturbance accompanied by immunoglobulin M paraproteinemia and lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma in the bone marrow. Thoracic and lumbar magnetic resonance imaging revealed a long paravertebral mass around the spinal column, but the direct infiltration could not be proven. The patient was diagnosed with possible Bing-Neel syndrome and managed with bendamustine and rituximab. After chemotherapy, the patient's neurological and radiological findings improved. Magnetic resonance imaging should be considered when the Bing-Neel syndrome diag...

Successful use of Rectal Pregabalin for the Treatment of Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathic Pain-a Case Report
DISCUSSION: Cancer patients often need to be treated with co-analgesics. At the end of life, treatment often cannot be continued due to lack of other than oral administration. Our case adds to the low evidence of pregabalin administered rectally.PMID:37455368 | DOI:10.1177/08258597231189151
