Effect of definitive hypo-fractionated radiotherapy concurrent with weekly cisplatin in locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck
In this study, we aimed to determine whether hypo-fractionated intensity-modulated radiotherapy (hypo-IMRT) with concurrent chemotherapy was practical, effective, and could achieve acceptable tumor control rates for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). We enrolled 62 patients with high-risk stage II, stage III, and IVA SCCHN who received hypo-IMRT (62.5 Gy in 25 fractions over 5 weeks 2.5Gy/fraction with weekly cisplatin 40 mg/m2). Our primary endpoint was to assess acute toxicity, while our secondary endpoints were late toxicity, loco-regional control, disease-free survival, and overall survival. The perc...

Fight Aging! Newsletter, July 31st 2023
In conclusion, an SBP level below 130 mmHg was found to be associated with longevity among older women. The longer SBP was controlled at a level between 110 and 130 mmHg, the higher the survival probability to age 90. Preventing age-related rises in SBP and increasing the time with controlled BP levels constitute important measures for achieving longevity. « Back to Top

A Case of Histologically Proven Recurrent Synovitis after Nivolumab Treatment
Intern Med. 2023 Jul 26. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.2221-23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 58-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis was diagnosed with methotrexate-associated Hodgkin lymphoma. After receiving several chemotherapy regimens, she started nivolumab treatment. Two weeks later, she was hospitalized with worsening finger, wrist, and elbow joint pain. A synovial biopsy of the wrist joint showed villous synovial proliferation and linear infiltration of CD68-/CD3-positive T cells (with more CD8 than CD4 T cells) but no CD20-positive B cells or CD138-positive macrophages. These findings corresponded to synovi...
