Tyndallized bacteria induce macrophage polarization toward M1 polarization: an effect useful to balance allergic immune responses
In conclusion, this study demonstrates that TB are capable to orientate M polarization toward M1, a functional phenotype that protects from allergic diseases and that can control viral infections thus preventing disease exacerbations.

Impact of asthma on the quality of life of asthmatic children: prospective study of 126 cases
Conclusion: To have a good quality of life that is not hampered by illness and to be able to carry out activities and projects without being bothered by respiratory symptoms, the important parameters are: - Well controlled asthma - Regular follow-up - Control of the inhalation system

Pre- and post-bronchodilator Forced Oscillation Technique in preschool children with acute wheeze in the emergency department.
Conclusions: These results support the use of FOT in the identification and monitoring of lung function abnormalities in preschool children with acute wheeze but should be interpreted with caution as the number of children studied was modest. Further studies need to relate FOT to spirometry, and clinical outcomes.

Recurrent respiratory infections in Down Syndrome: keep in mind bronchoscopy
Conclusion: Airway anomalies are a common finding in DS population. Therefore, a complete diagnostic work-up requires a high degree of suspicion and a low threshold for an endoscopic evaluation, when approaching IRR in these patients.

Respiratory allergies to thermal degradation products of plastic
Conclusions: The allergic risks associated with emissions from thermal degradation of plastics justify reinforcement of preventive measures and medical surveillance of exposed workers.

Better COVID-19 outcomes in children with good asthma control
Conclusions: The results of our study suggest that good asthma control, treatment adherence optimization and allergic asthma phenotype enable better COVID-19 outcomes in children with asthma.

Normal reference values of Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FENO)in healthy Indian primary school children
Conclusion: Our study, for the first time provides normal FENO levels in healthy school age children from India. Cut off values recommended by the ERS and NICE asthma guidelines can be applied to school aged children from India for management of asthma.

Continuous associations of type 2 biomarkers and efficacy of dupilumab in children with uncontrolled, moderate-to-severe asthma
Conclusions: Elevated FeNO or blood eosinophil count can identify children with uncontrolled moderate to severe asthma who are likely to respond to dupilumab.

Sensitivity and specificity of the Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT) in school aged children with stable asthma
Conclusion: The reported FOT indices using 5–37 Hz were able to detect airway obstruction in children with asthma, except for the Rrs5-20 measurements. Performing FOT could be useful in diagnosing paediatric asthma.

ADAM17 and CD62L in BAL fluid as a measure of leukocyte transmigration in COPD, asthma, and healthy individuals
Leukocyte transmigration in and out of the airways is poorly understood in respiratory diseases. The role of a disintegrin and metalloprotease (ADAM) family is a controversial topic as to whether it helps or hinders leukocyte transmigration in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). CD62L plays a prominent role for leukocyte migration as is cleaved by ADAM17 before transmigration. Therefore, we aimed to assess the levels of CD62L and ADAM17 present in airway samples from healthy individuals, asthmatics, and COPD patients.Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was collected from healthy (n=42, 10 smokers), COP...

Pollen exposure is associated with risk of respiratory symptoms during the first year of life
We examined whether pollen exposure is associated with respiratory symptoms in infants and if maternal atopy, infant’s sex or air pollution modify this association. We investigated 14,874 observations from 401 healthy infants of a prospective birth cohort. The association between pollen exposure and respiratory symptoms, assessed in weekly telephone interviews, was evaluated using generalized additive mixed models (GAMM). Effect modification by maternal atopy, infant’s sex and air pollution (NO2, PM2.5) was assessed with interaction terms.Per infant 37±2 (mean±SD) respiratory symptom scores were as...

Effect of Bronchial Thermoplasty on Alarmin (S100A7/A8/A9) Expression in Severe Asthma.
Conclusion: BT induces a significant decrease in alarmins expression in severe asthmatic patients which could contribute to better asthma control. S100A7/A8/A9 expression might be useful biomarkers in assessing asthma severity and therapy approaches.
