Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria Following mRNA COVID-19 Booster Vaccination at a Military Academy
We present a retrospective case series of CSU following Moderna COVID-19 booster vaccinations at the US Naval Academy (USNA). Demographics, clinical features, and impact on readiness were evaluated. Forty-nine students from the USNA were evaluated for urticaria after their third COVID-19 booster vaccination. Seventeen individuals were diagnosed with CSU. The median age was 20 years and predominantly male; the median time interval between vaccination and the onset of urticaria was 11 days. Out of 13 referred to Allergy, 7 patients had CU index performed and 2 were positive. Four patients received a second booster vaccinatio...

Human PLCG2 Haploinsufficiency Results in a Novel NK Cell Immunodeficiency
CONCLUSIONS: PLCG2 haploinsufficiency represents a distinct syndrome from previous variants characterized by NK cell immunodeficiency with herpes virus susceptibility, expanding the spectrum of PLCG2-related disease.PMID:37714437 | DOI:10.1016/j.jaci.2023.09.002

Oral food challenge in children with contact urticaria in reaction to cow's milk
CONCLUSION: The occurrence of contact urticaria might be the only manifestation among infants sensitized to cow's milk with tolerance to oral ingestion. Reactions due to oral challenge were related to a larger wheal diameter on the SPT.PMID:37695235 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v51i5.947

Hypersensitivity reactions to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in adults: Beyond current classification
CONCLUSIONS: While the EAACI/ENDA classification system stratifies NSAID-induced hypersensitivity reactions into five distinct endotypes or phenotypes, it may not fully capture the diversity of these reactions. Our findings suggest a need for further research to refine this classification system and better accommodate patients with atypical presentations.PMID:37695234 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v51i5.946
