Hospital admissions for urticaria in a pediatric emergency department of a tertiary care hospital
CONCLUSION: The majority of episodes corresponded to AU. Infections were the main suspected trigger, followed by drugs and food, with an overall confirmation rate ranging from 18 to 30%, highlighting the importance of an allergologic follow-up evaluation.PMID:37169569 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v51i3.820

Artificial Intelligence: Exploring the Future of Innovation in Allergy Immunology
AbstractPurpose of ReviewArtificial intelligence (AI) has increasingly been used in healthcare. Given the capacity of AI to handle large data and complex relationships between variables, AI is well suited for applications in healthcare. Recently, AI has been applied to allergy research.Recent FindingsIn this article, we review how AI technologies have been utilized in basic science and clinical allergy research for asthma, atopic dermatitis, rhinology, adverse reactions to drugs and vaccines, food allergy, anaphylaxis, urticaria, and eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. We discuss barriers for AI adoption to improve th...

Efficacy of Second-Line Treatments in Chronic Urticaria Refractory to Standard Dose Antihistamines
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with CU refractory to standard doses of nsAHs, both updosing of nsAHs 4-fold and multiple combination treatment with 4 nsAHs increased the rate of well-controlled cases without causing significant adverse effects. Updosing of nsAHs is more effective for complete CU control than combination treatment.PMID:37153977

Equine allergic skin diseases: Clinical consensus guidelines of the World Association for Veterinary Dermatology
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Insect bite hypersensitivity (IBH) is the best characterised allergic skin disease. An immunoglobulin (Ig)E response against Culicoides salivary antigens is widely documented. Genetics and environmental factors play important roles. Tests with high sensitivity and specificity are lacking, and diagnosis of IBH is based on clinical signs, seasonality and response to insect control. Eosinophils, interleukin (IL)-5 and IL-31 are explored as therapeutic targets. Presently, the most effective treatment is insect avoidance. Existing evidence does not support allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASI...
