BMI and BMI change following incident type 2 diabetes and risk of microvascular and macrovascular complications: the EPIC-Potsdam study
Conclusions/interpretationAmong people with incident type 2 diabetes, pre-diagnosis BMI was positively associated with microvascular complications, while a reduced risk was observed with weight loss when compared with stable weight. Deep learning approach for diabetes prediction using PIMA Indian dataset
ConclusionThe outcome of the study confirms that DL provides the best results with the most promising extracted features. DL achieves the accuracy of 98.07% which can be used for further development of the automatic prognosis tool. The accuracy of the DL approach can further be enhanced by including the omics data for prediction of the onset of the disease.

Prediction of 5-year risk of diabetes mellitus in relatively low risk middle-aged and elderly adults
ConclusionsFasting plasma glucose level, BMI, and triglyceride level were still dominated factors to predict 5-year diabetic risk among the relatively low risk participants. The cutoff values for fasting plasma glucose, TG, and BMI set as 5.89  mmol/L, 1.1 mmol/L, and 24 kg/m2, respectively, had the best predictive discrimination of diabetes.
