Supporting rehabilitation practice for COVID-19 recovery: a descriptive qualitative analysis of allied health perspectives
ConclusionHealthcare workers perceive an urgent need for the development of resources to support quality rehabilitation for people recovering from COVID-19 infection, to support best outcomes for this group of patients. Any resources developed must consider identified barriers to their access and use to maximise their impact.PMID:38637960 | DOI:10.1071/AH23210 (Source: Australian Health Review)

Psychometric Properties of the Spanish Version of the Satisfaction With Daily Occupations and Occupational Balance in Spanish Stroke Survivors
CONCLUSIONS: The Spanish version of the SDO-OB presented good psychometric properties, making it a suitable instrument to address participation level, participation satisfaction, and participation balance in stroke survivors. Plain-Language Summary: After a stroke, survivors experience changes in their participation in daily activities and how satisfied they are with them. This study examined whether a tool called Satisfaction With Daily Occupations and Occupational Balance (SDO-OB) could provide reliable information about this. We looked at 140 stroke survivors from different places in Spain to see whether they had someon...

Long-term impact of a community-based adapted boxing program on physical functioning and quality of life of individuals with Parkinson's disease
CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that adapted boxing is at worst non-detrimental and at best potentially beneficial for muscle strength, endurance, and functional mobility in individuals with PD. However, adapted boxing probably cannot fully counteract the HRQoL decrements that accompany PD progression.PMID:38640181 | DOI:10.3233/NRE-230382 (Source: NeuroRehabilitation)

Role of family medicine physicians in providing nutrition support to older patients admitted to orthopedics departments: a grounded theory approach
CONCLUSIONS: The inclusion of family physicians in nutrition support teams can help with early detection of the rapid deterioration of orthopedic patients' conditions, and comprehensive management can be provided by nutrition support teams. In rural primary care settings, family physicians play a vital role in providing geriatric care in community hospitals in collaboration with specialists. Family medicine in hospitals should be investigated in other settings for better geriatric care and to drive mutual learning among healthcare professionals.PMID:38641569 | PMC:PMC11027398 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02379-4 (Source: Primary Care)
