No Association Between Injury-Related Fear and Isokinetic Quadriceps Strength in Individuals With a History of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
CONCLUSIONS: There was no association between kinesiophobia and peak isokinetic quadriceps strength in individuals at least 1 year post-ACLR. Both factors, independently, have been shown to influence risk of secondary injury in patients after ACLR.PMID:38604600 | DOI:10.1123/jsr.2023-0308 (Source: Journal of Sport Rehabilitation)

Vitamin D as an intervention for improving quadriceps muscle strength in patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: study protocol for a randomized double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial
The goal of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is to restore the preinjury level of knee function to return to play (RTP). However, even after completing the rehabilitation programme, some patien... (Source: Trials)

Quality of Life Assessment in Danish Heroin Assisted Treatment Patients: Validity of the SF-36 Survey
ConclusionOur findings support the validity of the SF-36 Health Survey as a measure of the quality of life in people undergoing Heroin Assisted Treatment. The fact that the factors structure of the SF-36 was stable over repeated measurements implies that it can be used as a measure of change in this population. Future studies should consider a longitudinal design and attempt to predict future hospital contact using quality-of-life measures in patients with opioid addiction. A modified rehabilitation paradigm bilaterally increased rat extensor digitorum communis muscle size but did not improve forelimb function after stroke
by Sally Caine, Mariam Alaverdashvili, Frederick Colbourne, Gillian D. Muir, Phyllis G. Paterson Malnutrition after stroke may lessen the beneficial effects of rehabilitation on motor recovery through influences on both brain and skeletal muscle. Enriched rehabilitation (ER), a combination of environmental enrichment and forelimb reaching practice, is used preclinically to study recovery of s killed reaching after stroke. However, the chronic food restriction typically used to motivate engagement in reaching practice is a barrier to using ER to investigate interactions between nutritional status and rehabilitation. Thus, ...

The Effect of Computerized Wobble Board and Core Stabilization Exercises on Balance Performance and Exercise Capacity in Patients with Heart Failure: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Heart failure (HF) is a clinical syndrome with a multifactorial etiology resulting in increased intracardiac pressures and/or inadequate cardiac output as a result of structural and/or functional cardiac abnormality 1. Exercise intolerance along with dyspnea and fatigue are the cardinal symptoms of HF and are closely related to prognosis 2. (Source: Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)

Study on the effect of blood flow restriction training combined with IASTAM on ankle strength and function intervention in athletes with chronic ankle instability in sport dance events
ConclusionBoth blood flow restriction training combined with IASTM and traditional ankle strength and stability training have shown significant improvements in stability, function, strength, and range of motion in CAI patients. Furthermore, the Test group exhibits superior efficacy in ankle stability, daily functional movement, dorsiflexion, and eversion range of motion compared to the control group.Clinical trial registration9 February 2024, ClinicalTrials.gov, ID; NCT06251414. Flexor digitorum superficialis tendon transfer to extensor pollicis longus in the absence of palmaris longus tendon: a wide-awake anaesthesia approach
ConclusionsThe FDS ring finger transfer to EPL in the absence of the palmaris longus tendon proves to be an effective surgical approach, yielding favorable outcomes. Wide-awake anesthesia with no tourniquet offers advantages such as intraoperative tension adjustment and enables patient participation in rehabilitation, thereby enhancing surgeon confidence for initiating early rehabilitation.Level of Evidence:Level IV, therapeutic study. Three-dimensional assessment of upper airway changes associated with mandibular positional deviations following fibula free flap reconstruction
ConclusionsThe overall accuracy of mandibular reconstructions with FFF is high, but there is room for optimization. The focus of research should be extended from masticatory to respiratory rehabilitation.Clinical relevanceEffects on respiratory function should be considered prior to graft positioning. The clinical relevance of upper airway changes within the complex rehabilitation of reconstructive surgery patients needs to be further investigated. (Source: Clinical Oral Investigations)

Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System: Content and Criterion Validity Across Evidence-Based Voice Therapies for Muscle Tension Dysphonia
CONCLUSIONS: The RTSS and RTSS-Voice exhibited strong content validity. The standard RTSS-Voice terminology helped identify, for the first time, commonalities and differences in treatment ingredients, targets, and mechanisms of action across four treatments developed for the same patient population. In the long term, the RTSS and RTSS-Voice could provide the framework for an ever-growing collection of clinically meaningful and evidence-based therapy algorithms with potential to improve research, education, and clinical care.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.25537624.PMID:38597797 | DOI:10.1044/2024_AJSLP...
