The Effect of Metformin on Ethanol- and Indomethacin-Induced Gastric Ulcers in Rats
CONCLUSION: The findings of the present work demonstrated the gastroprotective effect of metformin against the development of gastric mucosal lesions induced by ethanol and indomethacin in non-diabetic, normoglycemic rats via its antioxidant and anti-apoptotic properties and partly from its ability to restore blood flow.PMID:35946894 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2022.21195 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology)

Manpixiao Decoction Halted the Malignant Transformation of Precancerous Lesions of Gastric Cancer: From Network Prediction to In-Vivo Verification
This study is designed to examine the protective effect of MPX against PLGC and further to reveal the engaged mechanism via integrating network pharmacology and in vivo experimental evidence. Network pharmacology results demonstrated that inflammation, immune responses, and angiogenesis might be associated with the efficacy of MPX in the treatment of PLGC, in which the PI3K-Akt, cellular senescence, P53 and protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum were involved. Then, we established a rat model of PLGC using a combination of N-methyl-N′-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG), sodium salicylate, irregular fasting, and ranitid...

Ranitidine and the incidence of hypersensitivity reactions to paclitaxel: A retrospective cohort study
In conclusion, we found no difference in the incidence of HSRs during paclitaxel infusions between patients who received ranitidine as premedication versus those who did not. (Source: Pharmacology Research and Perspectives)

Comparision of the phenol red, gravimetric, and synthesized mPEG-PR methods for correcting water flux using the single-pass intestinal perfusion method
Eur J Pharm Sci. 2022 Jul 4:106255. doi: 10.1016/j.ejps.2022.106255. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPhenol red and PEG-4000, the usual non-absorbable indicators, have non-negligible absorption problems in measuring water flux. mPEG-PR, combined phenol red with mPEG-4000, was first synthesized and could decrease absorption. However, its application has not been confirmed. The purpose of this study was to explore the applicability of mPEG-PR as a novel non-absorption indicator in the in situ single-pass intestinal perfusion (SPIP) experiment. Six model drugs (atenolol ranitidine, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, antipyrine, hydrochloro...

Famotidine activates the vagus nerve inflammatory reflex to attenuate cytokine storm
CONCLUSIONS: These observations reveal a previously unidentified vagus nerve-dependent anti-inflammatory effect of famotidine in the setting of cytokine storm which is not replicated by high dosages of other H2R antagonists in clinical use. Because famotidine is more potent when administered intrathecally, these findings are also consistent with a primarily central nervous system mechanism of action.PMID:35578169 | DOI:10.1186/s10020-022-00483-8 (Source: Molecular Medicine)
