Poster
I reached out to a doctor regarding potential research opportunities, and she suggested that I focus on creating a poster presentation for a specific procedure in Interventional Radiology (IR). I had anticipated working on a project that would lead to a publication. Is investing time solely in creating a poster worthwhile? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can you actually be satisfied by doing 50% DR and 50% IR?
Current R2, been really enjoying my DR residency so far. My favorite rotation was IR, mainly due to the ability to use skills that I learned from a surgical intern year and my radiology years. Moreover, what entices me is that IR can allow me to practice a heavily procedure based specialty using catheters and work as a diagnostician. I am nearly set on swallowing the IR pill, but some IR attendings at my institution gave me pause about a month ago. They said that while traditionally... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Breast Imaging Fellowship - future job market, compensation and demand?
I'm at the end of my first year of radiology residency and am thinking about breast fellowship. Are breast imagers commanding higher salaries compared to other subspecialties now and in the future? I understand breast is in high demand now, but will these trends continue in the future? Any thoughts on AI or getting replaced by mid-levels? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Tennessee is now allowing FMG's to practice without a US residency, any chance outsourcing becomes a legit concerning for radiology now?
Here is the bill summary. My theory would be that the large telerads companies will lobby for it allowing them to rapidly expand their service availability and price out typical private practices (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Radiology LOR while applying for pediatrics
I'm planning to apply for pediatrics residency, I have only 2 US LORs in pediatrics (from the same rotation) and another US LOR from a radiologist which is a strong LOR and the radiologist who wrote me the LOR even mentioned that i like pediatrics in the letter. So i am asking will this LOR from a US radiologist help me to match in pediatrics or it's more or less of no value since it's not from a pediatrician? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The Rad Pill
Hello fellow picture lookers. I come to you with a radical new idea. Of all the specialties, Rad folk seem to constantly be the most negative. While others fellate themselves about their specialties, we are constantly complaining about compensation, volume, scope creep or AI. I come to you with a new path. The Rad Pill. Forget your worries over compensation. Forget about the derm working 4 days a week. Forget about the plastic surgeon doing hair plugs for the 45 yr old divorced dad of two... AI is equal to or superior to radiologists in reading mammograms
AI matches radiologist performance on mammo, DBT exams A meta-analysis encompassing over 1.1 million screening breast imaging exams has concluded that artificial intelligence (AI) software performs equally to or better than radiologists, according to research published May 23 in Radiology. www.auntminnie.com Pretty significant meta analysis. I think the days of saying rads will never be replaced in any capacity by AI are over. Big changes will come in the next 3-4 decades when us med students are practicing (Source: Student Doctor Network)

It's official: AI is more accurate than radiologists when it comes to reading mammograms
AI matches radiologist performance on mammo, DBT exams A meta-analysis encompassing over 1.1 million screening breast imaging exams has concluded that artificial intelligence (AI) software performs equally to or better than radiologists, according to research published May 23 in Radiology. www.auntminnie.com Given how AI has reached this point in under a year after the release of ChatGPT, is it really realistic to say that radiology will still be a viable field in just 5 years? Maybe this wouldn't affect an attending breast rad...

Radiology to Ophthalmology Switch
Hi! I am an incoming PGY-1 who recently matched at a Top Radiology program located in the Midwest (R1 year starting '24). While I am tremendously grateful to have matched at a cush, world class program, I seem unable to shake my interest in Ophthalmology that flourished through multiple rotations in medical school. I applied to Ophthalmology this past cycle and unfortunately went unmatched despite having many interviews. I know that Radiology is an excellent field, and I would very happily...
