Did CMS actually cut pay based on online forum talk?
I've heard stories that rads was specifically targeted for pay cuts based on posts from auntminnie/sdn...this can't possibly be true can it? Don't they have access to every radiologists tax returns/ billing information to calculate actual average compensation? Using anecdotal unverifiable income reported on an anonymous forum feels like the most ridiculous reason for pay cuts I can think of... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is my STEP 1 going to be a red flag in the future?
I am a non-US IMG and hopefully will be applying for the 2025 match cycle. Unfortunately, due to some poor decision making I ended up getting a step 1 score of 22x. Fortunately, my step 2 score is 26x and other parts of my CV are alright I guess (5 pubs/presentations, 10+ voluntary experiences). I am finishing medical school in the UK in the next few months and hope to do research in radiology for the next couple years. I know it might be hard to say but do you think my low step 1 score will... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me decide: Noorda COM vs ATSU-SOMA vs NYIT-Arkansas
I have been fortunate to have been accepted by these schools. I am interested in radiology, neurology, cardiology & GI. I understand these specialties (except neuro) are not DO friendly and was wondering which of these schools would be the best for achieving them? I was leaning towards NYIT-Arkansas or ATSU SOMA. Any advice appreciated. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WCUCOM vs ATSUSOMA
Hello, I recently got accepted to WCUCOM and ATSUSOMA for the 2023 class off the accepted pending open seat list. I wanted to ask which one would be better to pursue for a Diagnostic Radiology residency? My backup I'm shooting for is Anesthesiology. From the data I have seen, it seems that diagnostic radiology is considered "IMG friendly" so does this mean it's easier for DO's to get into it as well? Furthermore, anyone have useful tips on how fresh medical students can get a good step... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

M3 Newly Interested in IR
Hello everyone! I wanted to ask about getting interested in IR late in the game as an M3 at a T20 school. I just finished clerkship year and was not exactly sure about what clerkship grades are most important besides surgery for IR. I received HP in ObGyn and IM and honored the rest of the clerkships, but I had heard that IM is a very important clerkship for radiology related fields. For 4th year, I was thinking to do a SubI in surgery since it seems that would be related to IR, but is it... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

T12 compression worsening (acute on chronic). radiologist initially called chronic compression but i thought i saw edema on STIR (right side pic). spoke to another radiologist who agrees with subacute edema. to kypho or not is the question. pain still 8/10. anterior portion almost vertebra plana, and protruding back with mild-mod... Late in 4th year and would like to switch to Rad from EM
Short and sweet. DO student who applied EM in Sept. Didn't have Rad (IR, DR, Rad onc) until mid/late M4. Really enjoyed DR day to day. Wish I experienced it as an M3 in more detail as I would have applied. Now I am having serious regrets committing to EM and losing the ability to try and match DR. I am stuck and wondering what I can do and how to even approach this a few weeks away from match. Do I contact Rad PDs to ask for advice? Do I not take a guaranteed EM spot at a solid place to... Process of becoming a specialist
Hello! I will be attending vet school next year and I would love to hear some feedback about the process and how hard it is to become a specialist. I’ve been working under board certified surgeons as a scrub assistant for the past 3 year and have had a passion for surgery since I was young. I have been pretty dead set on specializing in either surgery or radiology eventually. I have heard a lot about your grades in vet school really matter for residency and it’s super competitive. Can... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Top Radiology Programs - How Important are Clinical Grades?
Very strong academics + research, school pedigree is good (T10). Rec letters should be good. How important are clinical grades for top 5 rads programs? Will obviously do my best to get as many H’s as possible, but I am aware my academics will probably be stronger than my clinical performance. Do the very top rads programs want all H’s, or is a mixture of H’s / HP’s / maybe even the occasional P okay? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job listing
Hi all, very early in process of looking at jobs/learning about what to look for. Came across this one, can someone explain what the catch might be? Other than it being in a "less than desireable" area (alabame is cool in my opinion). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Vermont - LCOM vs. Temple - LKSOM
Hi everyone! I have been fortunate enough to have been accepted into the following programs and would like your help. For some context, I will be out of state for all of them, so the difference in loans I will take out is negligible. I want to match to a FL residency and am heavily seriously considering radiology as a specialty. Your input would be greatly appreciated. University of Vermont - LCOM: Pros - true P/F all the way through clerkships, smaller class size (124... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Which specialty has the most self-learning?
I learn best from reading / studying on my own, I was wondering which specialties would be most conductive to this? I’m thinking radiology as of now. Not interested in pathology for various reasons. Academics / research are strong so matching shouldn’t be an issue I think. Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Residency Ranking Advice
Hullo, I'm an MS4 from a lower-tier MD school, and I'm currently sorting out my rank list. I wanted to ask this forum if anyone knew of any good or bad things about some of these programs that wouldn't have been apparent during my interview. The most important factors for me are the quality of teaching and residents' camaraderie. I'd appreciate any advice/opinions regarding these programs. I know it's cringe to ask about ranking, but I don't really have many other avenues to source... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
