A pictorial view on false positive findings of < sup > 68 < /sup > Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT and their prognostic value in patients with prostate carcinoma after radical prostatectomy and undetectable PSA values
CONCLUSION: The presence of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT-positive findings in patients after radical prostatectomy and an undetectable PSA had a low predictive value for future progression. The interpretation of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT should always include a complex assessment of the clinical setting-the risk group, PSA value and degree of PSMA accumulation in the lesions. In these situations, further clarification of PSMA-positive findings is appropriate before deciding to change treatment.PMID:38629815 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912702 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

Comparison of peritoneal interposition flaps and sealants for prevention of lymphocele after robotic radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection: a systematic review, meta-analysis, Bayesian network meta-analysis, and meta-regression
This study aimed to aggregate and analyze the available literature on different interventions which seek to prevent lymphocele through a Bayesian Network. A systematic review was performed to identify prospective studies evaluating strategies for lymphocele prevention after robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy  + pelvic lymph node dissection. Data was inputted into Review Manager 5.4 for pairwise meta-analysis. Data was then used to build a network in R Studio. These networks were used to model 200,000 Markov Chains via MonteCarlo sampling. The results are expressed as odds ratios (OR) with 95% credib le intervals...

Impact of health and digital health literacy on quality of life following radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer: prospective single-center cohort study
ConclusionOur study showed a positive association between self-reported HL/e-HL and QoL, marking the first report on the impact of HL/e-HL on the QoL in men who underwent RP for clinically localized prostate cancer. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Early experience and future prospects regarding use of newly developed surgical robot system, hinotori, in the field of urologic cancer surgery
AbstractIn the field of urology, robotic surgery has gained rapid and wide acceptance as a standard surgical approach in the majority of major surgeries over the last decade. To date, the da Vinci surgical system has been the dominant platform in robotic surgery; however, several newly developed robotic systems have recently been introduced in routine clinical practice. Of these, hinotori, the first made-in-Japan robotic system, is characterized by various unique and attractive features different from the existing system, and the use of this system has gradually increased mainly in urologic cancer surgeries, including radi...

Individualized center-based analysis of urinary and sexual functional outcome after radical prostatectomy based on the prostate cancer outcome study: a post hoc pathway to patient outcome measurement analysis for quality improvement
ConclusionsThe results show how using provider-specific data from a larger cohort study enables to develop institution-specific analysis for functional outcomes after RPE. These models can be used for internal quality improvement as well as enhanced and provider-specific patient communication and shared decision making. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Prevalence and risk evaluation of cardiovascular disease in the newly diagnosed prostate cancer population in China: A nationwide, multi-center, population-based cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Prostate cancer patients in China are diagnosed at an advanced stage. A heavy CVD burden was present at the initiation of treatment. Patients who accepted ADT-related therapy showed an original higher risk of CVD, but the awareness of cardiovascular protection was far from sufficient.PMID:38613214 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000003087 (Source: Chinese Medical Journal)

On the relationship between various anticoagulants and robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: a single-surgeon serial analysis
This study aims to explore the safety of robot-assisted prostatectomy in anticoagulated patients, without any exclusion criteria. The study included 500 patients who underwent RARP by a single surgeon between April 2019 and August 2022. Patients were divided into two groups: Group 1, consisting of 376 men (75.2%), did not receive any anticoagulation, while Group 2, with 124 patients (24.8%), received different forms of anticoagulation. Then, the anticoagulation group was divided into 4 subgroups according to their definite anticoagulation: the aspirin 15.6%, new oral anticoagulants (NOAC) 5.4%, Vitamin K antagonist (VKA) 2...

Role of oxygen reserve index monitoring in patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: a retrospective study
ConclusionsORi monitoring provides a non-invasive approach to predict intraoperative hypoxia during RARP, enabling early management. Additionally, the significant relationship between a higher body mass index and hypoxia underscores the importance of individualized patient assessment. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Detection of the Highest-Grade Lesion in Multifocal Discordant Prostate Cancer by Multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging
CONCLUSION: We found that mpMRI detectability of the highest-grade tumor in discordant cases was inferior to that of the largest tumor with low malignant potential. Our results suggest that the risk of high-grade tumors which determine patient prognosis being overlooked.PMID:38608334 | DOI:10.1016/j.clgc.2024.102084 (Source: Clinical Prostate Cancer)

Patient Reported Sexual Adaptation Following Prostate Cancer Treatment: An Analysis of Related Variables and Sexual Outcomes Associated with Sexual Adaptation Styles
Arch Sex Behav. 2024 Apr 12. doi: 10.1007/s10508-024-02855-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSexual concerns after prostate cancer (PCa) treatment are high. Flexible coping is a crucial element to maintaining sexual activity after PCa and improves adaptation outcomes. We aimed to identify potential sexual adaptation styles reported by men following PCa treatment, and to assess relationships among associated variables and outcomes. Individuals (n = 223) with PCa treatment history (e.g., radical prostatectomy [n = 165, 74.0%], external beam radiation [n = 83, 37.2%], hormone/androgen deprivation therapy [n = 83, 37.2%]), comp...
