Drug Repurposing Analysis for Colorectal Cancer through Network Medicine Framework: Novel Candidate Drugs and Small Molecules
This study aimed to reveal the drug-repurposing candidates for colorectal cancer (CRC) via drug-repurposing methods and network biology approaches. A novel, differentially co-expressed, highly interconnected, and co-regulated prognostic gene module was identified for CRC. Based on the gene module, polyethylene glycol (PEG), gallic acid, pyrazole, cordycepin, phenothiazine, pantoprazole, cysteamine, indisulam, valinomycin, trametinib, BRD-K81473043, AZD8055, dovitinib, BRD-A17065207, and tyrphostin AG1478 presented as drugs and small molecule candidates previously studied in the CRC. Lornoxicam, suxamethonium, oprelvekin, s...

Tachycardia and fever after packed red cell (PRC) infusion: A case report
J Family Med Prim Care. 2023 Jul;12(7):1457-1459. doi: 10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_647_22. Epub 2023 Jul 14.ABSTRACTA 56-year-old female patient with a body weight of 60 kg was brought to the hospital with hematemesis and received one unit of packed red cells (PRCs) for this condition. After 30 min, the patient experienced tachycardia of 120 beats/min and an increased body temperature of 102°F. The patient had no relevant medical history of allergy or similar episodes in the past. The patient was not suffering from any coagulopathies or sickle cell anaemia, which is a prevalent condition in the region. The patient was receiving t...

Pharmacological treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux in children
CONCLUSIONS: There is very low-certainty evidence about symptom improvements and changes in pH indices for infants. There are no summary data for endoscopic changes. Medications may or may not provide a benefit (based on very low-certainty evidence) for infants whose symptoms remain bothersome, despite nonmedical interventions or parental reassurance. If a medication is required, there is no clear evidence based on summary data for omeprazole, esomeprazole (in neonates), H₂antagonists, and alginates for symptom improvements (very low-certainty evidence). Further studies with longer follow-up are needed. In older children...

Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Patient Changes during the COVID-19 Quarantine
Conclusions: During the lockdown, the diet habits of LPR patients were improved in one-third and unchanged in 44% of cases. The stress level was increased in one-third of patients, which was associated with an increase in symptom scores.PMID:37629765 | DOI:10.3390/medicina59081475 (Source: Medicina (Kaunas))
