Diabetic nephropathy and proton pump inhibitors & #8211; Pilot case-control study
Conclusion: There is a significant association between the use of PPIs and DN in patients with type II DM. Since PPIs have other beneficial effects in patients with DM such as glycaemic control and relief from gastro-oesophageal symptoms, need for risk benefit assessment for long-term use of PPIs in DM is warranted.
