Stabilizing tumor resident mast cells restores T cell infiltration and sensitizes sarcomas to PD-L1 inhibition
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests the targeting of MCs with clinically administered drugs, such as antihistamines, as a promising approach to overcome resistance to immunotherapy in sarcomas.PMID:38578281 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-24-0246 (Source: Cell Research)

Secondary hematological malignancies in patients with sarcoma: A single ‑center retrospective study
Oncol Lett. 2024 Mar 14;27(5):211. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14344. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTThe present retrospective study investigated the clinical features and prognosis of secondary hematological malignancies (SHMs) in patients with sarcoma at Korea Cancer Center Hospital (Seoul, South Korea). Patients who had been diagnosed with SHMs after having received treatment for sarcoma between January 2000 and May 2023 were enrolled. Clinical data were collected from the patients' medical records. Clinical characteristics were analyzed, including SHM incidence, type and prognosis. Of 2,953 patients with sarcoma, 18 (0.6%) were...

Cancer patterns in Arua district, Uganda: a hospital-based retrospective study
CONCLUSION: There is a high incidence of liver cancer in Arua district. The high levels of cervical, breast and oesophagus cancer were consistent with what is reported by the two PBCRs in Uganda. However, BL could be due to the presence of a BL treatment centre at Kuluva hospital in Arua. Cancer interventions in Arua should therefore be targeted towards liver, cervix, breast, and oesophagus cancer and furthering research on the reason for the high incidence of liver cancer.PMID:38566768 | PMC:PMC10984836 | DOI:10.3332/ecancer.2024.1688 (Source: Ecancermedicalscience)
