Pharmacokinetics and Safety of Atogepant Co ‐administered with Quinidine Gluconate in Healthy Participants: A Phase 1, Open‐Label, Drug‐Drug Interaction Study
AbstractAtogepant, an oral calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonist, is approved for the preventive treatment of migraine. Atogepant is a substrate of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), breast cancer resistance protein, organic anion transporting polypeptide transporters, and cytochrome P450 (CYP)3A4 and 2D6. Quinidine is a strong P-gp and CYP2D6 inhibitor. A phase 1 open-label study evaluated the effect of P-gp and CYP2D6 inhibition by quinidine on the pharmacokinetics of atogepant, and the safety and tolerability of atogepant and quinidine gluconate (QG) when co-administered and when given alone in 33 healthy adults. Ther...

Steering benzyl alcohol electrooxidation coupled with hydrogen evolution via hetero ‐interface construction
AbstractIt is still a challenge to develop electrocatalyst for the efficient adsorption and conversion of organic molecule in aqueous media. Herein, a hetero-interface structure based on CuO@Ni(OH)2 is rationally designed to enhance the performance of benzyl alcohol oxidation to benzoic acid. A high Faradaic efficiency of 99% and the yield of 3.09  mmol cm−2 h−1 are achieved at 1.70  V versus reversible hydrogen electrode, outperforming the previously reported electrocatalysts. Furthermore, a membrane-free flow electrolyzer was assembled based on CuO@Ni(OH)2 hetero-interface, exhibiting a much high yielding of ...

Ionic Pairs ‐Engineered Fluorinated Covalent Organic Frameworks Toward Direct Air Capture of CO2
A cascade structure engineering approach is developed to afford an ionic pair-functionalized fluorinated COF (F-COF). The sorbent is featured by ordered structure, high crystallinity, and abundant active sites for CO2 integration. Using 400  ppm CO2 as the feeding gas, high CO2 uptake capacity and facile sorbent regeneration is achieved. Operando spectroscopy-, X-ray-, and neutron-based techniques are deployed to afford information on the CO2 insertion pathway and thermodynamics. AbstractThe covalent organic frameworks (COFs) possessing high crystallinity and capability to capture low-concentration CO2 (400  ppm) from ai...

The origin of betaine in mouse oocytes and preimplantation embryos †
Biol Reprod. 2024 May 3:ioae053. doi: 10.1093/biolre/ioae053. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBetaine has important roles in preimplantation mouse embryos, including as an organic osmolyte that functions in cell volume regulation in the early preimplantation stages and as a donor to the methyl pool in blastocysts. The origin of betaine in oocytes and embryos was largely unknown. Here, we found that betaine was present from the earliest stage of growing oocytes. Neither growing oocytes nor early preantral follicles could take up betaine, but antral follicles were able to transport betaine and supply the enclosed oocyte. Betai...

Assessment of parent and alkyl -PAHs in surface sediments of Iranian mangroves on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf: Spatial accumulation distribution, influence factors, and ecotoxicological risks
Chemosphere. 2024 May 1:142176. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2024.142176. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSpatial patterns, potential origins, and ecotoxicological risk of alkylated (APAH) -and parent -(PPAH) polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were studied in mangrove surface sediments along the northern coasts of the Persian Gulf, Iran. The mean total concentrations (ngg-1dw) ∑32PAH, ∑PPAHs and ∑APAHs in sediments were 3482 (1689-61228), 2642 (1109-4849), and 840 (478-1273), respectively. The spatial variability was similar among these PAH groups, with the highest levels occurring in Nayband National Marine Park (N...

Phosphorus immobilization/release behavior of lanthanum-modified bentonite amended sediment under the dual effects of pH and dissolved organic carbon
Chemosphere. 2024 May 1:142221. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2024.142221. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLanthanum modified bentonite (LMB) is typical P-inactivating agent that has been applied in over 200 lakes. Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and high pH restrict the phosphorus (P) immobilization performance of LMB. However, the P immobilization/release behaviors of LMB-amended sediment when suspended to overlying water with high pH and DOC have not yet been studied. In the present work, batch adsorption and long-term incubation experiments were performed to study the combined effects of pH and DOC on the P control by LMB. T...

Transformation of dissolved organic matter during groundwater arsenite removal using air cathode iron electrocoagulation
Chemosphere. 2024 May 1:142083. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2024.142083. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDissolve organic matters (DOM) usually showed negative effect on the removal of inorganic arsenic (As) in groundwater by electrochemical approaches, yet which parts of sub-component within DOM played the role was lack of evidence. Herein, we investigated the effects of land-source humic-like acid (HA) on groundwater As(III) removal using air cathode iron electrocoagulation, based on the parallel factor analysis of three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix and statistical methods. Our results showed that the land-source ...

Organophotoelectrocatalytic C(sp < sup > 2 < /sup > )-H alkylation of heteroarenes with unactivated C(sp < sup > 3 < /sup > )-H compounds
Chem Commun (Camb). 2024 May 3. doi: 10.1039/d4cc01335b. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAn organophotoelectrocatalytic method for the C(sp2)-H alkylation of heteroarenes with unactivated C(sp3)-H compounds through dehydrogenation cross-coupling has been developed. The C(sp2)-H alkylation combines organic catalysis, photochemistry and electrochemistry, avoiding the need for external metal-reagents, HAT-reagents, and oxidants. This protocol exhibits good substrate tolerance and functional group compatibility, providing a straightforward and powerful pathway to access a variety of alkylated heteroarenes under green conditions....
