AbstractOxidation ofn-butane to produce maleic anhydride (MA) by the vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) catalyst is important for the fine chemical industry. However, the improvement in MA yield exceeding 60% is still a big challenge. In this article, a VPO catalyst with increased MA yield originated from the tailored structure of VPO precursor prepared in a rotating packed bed (RPB) reactor with excellent micro-mixing efficiency. A Method to Apply Zavitsas ’ Aqueous Electrolyte Model to Multicomponent Solutions and its Equivalence to Zdanovskii’s Rule
AbstractZavitsas developed an aqueous electrolyte thermodynamic model and applied it to single electrolyte solutions previously. Here, a method to apply the model to multicomponent solutions is derived by setting the water activity to the mole fraction of free water in the mixture. The method is shown to work effectively for the CsBr-KNO3-H2O and CsCl-KNO3-H2O systems at 100.3 °C even at concentrations greater than six molal. Surfactant Interactions and Solvent Phase Solubility Modulate Small Molecule Release from Emulsion Electrospun Fibers
This study aimed to elucidate the role of model drug interactions with emulsion chemistry on loading and release rates from fibers with controlled fiber diameter and fiber volume fraction. Nile Red and Rhodamine B were used as model drugs and encapsulation efficiency and release rates were determined from poly(caprolactone) (PCL) electrospun fibers spun either with no surfactant (Span 80), surfactant, or water-in-oil emulsions.
