Enhancing photocatalytic wastewater treatment: investigating the promising applications of nickel ferrite and its novel nanocomposites
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.1007/s11356-024-33502-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWater contamination ranks highest among the challenges posed by the rapidly increasing environmental contamination, which is thought to be the most pressing issue globally. The development of innovative techniques for the successful removal of diverse types of undesirable pollutants from wastewater would therefore yield a huge return on investment. Nowadays, the removal of many organic and synthetic pollutants from the environmental matrix is anticipated to be possible by photocatalytic degradation, owing to its low ener...

Degradation of the emerging brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol S using organo-montmorillonite supported nanoscale zero-valent iron
In this study, a nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) impregnated organic montmorillonite composite (nZVI-OMT) was successfully prepared and utilized to degrade TBBPS in aqueous solution. The results show that the nZVI-OMT composite was very stable and reusable as the nZVI was well dispersed on the organic montmorillonite. Organic montmorillonite clay layers provide a strong support, facilitate well dispersion of the nZVI chains, and accelerate the overall TBBPS transformation with a degradation rate constant 5.5 times higher than that of the original nZVI. Four major intermediates, including tribromobisphenol S (tri-BBPS), d...

Lactic Acid Chemical Peeling in Skin Disorders
Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2024 Apr 23;17:901-909. doi: 10.2147/CCID.S455700. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTLactic acid is the most widely occurring natural organic acid in nature. It not only exhibits mild and safe properties but also possesses multiple physiological activities, such as antibacterial effects, immune regulation, and promotion of wound healing, making it one of the most popular chemical peeling agents. Chemical peels are commonly used in the field of aesthetic dermatology as a non-invasive therapeutic approach. This research aims to provide valuable references for clinical dermatologists by summarizing the c...

Polyoxomolybdate-Based Metal-Organic Framework-Derived Cu-Embedded Molybdenum Dioxide Hybrid Nanoparticles as Highly Efficient Electrocatalysts for Al-S Batteries
ChemSusChem. 2024 Apr 29:e202400424. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202400424. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHigh-performance rechargeable aluminum-sulfur batteries (RASB) have great potential for various applications owing to their high theoretical capacity, abundant sulfur resources, and good safety. Nevertheless, the practical application of RASB still faces several challenges, including the polysulfide shuttle phenomenon and low sulfur utilization efficiency. Here, we first developed a synergistic copper heterogeneous metal oxide MoO2 derived from polymolybdate-based metal-organic framework as an efficient catalyst for mitigating p...
