Self-assembly of Discrete Oligomers of Naphthalenediimides in Bulk and on Surfaces
Chemistry. 2023 Nov 27:e202303107. doi: 10.1002/chem.202303107. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHere we report on the synthesis of discrete oligomers of alkyl-bridged naphthalenediimides (NDIs) and study their molecular nanostructures both in bulk, in solution and at the solid-liquid interface. Via an iterative synthesis method, multiple NDI cores were bridged with short and saturated alkyl-diamines (C3 and C12) or long and unsaturated alkyl-diamines (u2C33 to u8C100) at their imide termini. The strong intermolecular interaction between the NDI cores was observed by probing their photophysical properties in solution. In bulk...

Advances in RNAi therapies for gastric cancer: Targeting drug resistance and nanoscale delivery
Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 Nov 24;169:115927. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.115927. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGastric cancer poses a significant health challenge, and exploring innovative therapeutic strategies is imperative. RNA interference (RNAi) has employed as an important therapeutic strategy for diseases by selectively targeting key pathways involved in diseases pathogenesis. Small interfering RNA (siRNA), a potent RNAi tool, possesses the capability to silence genes and downregulate their expression. This review provides a comprehensive examination of the potential applications of small interfering RNA (siRNA) and ...

Genome-based tools for onchocerciasis elimination: utility of the mitochondrial genome for delineating Onchocerca volvulus transmission zones
Int J Parasitol. 2023 Nov 20:S0020-7519(23)00207-2. doi: 10.1016/j.ijpara.2023.11.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNational programs in Africa have expanded their objectives from control of onchocerciasis (river blindness) as a public health problem to elimination of parasite transmission, motivated by the reduction of Onchocerca volvulus infection prevalence in many African meso- and hyperendemic areas due to mass drug administration of ivermectin (MDAi). Given the large, contiguous hypo-, meso-, and hyperendemic areas, sustainable elimination of onchocerciasis in sub-Saharan Africa requires delineation of geographic bo...
