Pneumatic compression therapy using the EQ Press accelerates lymphatic flow in healthy equine forelimbs as determined by lymphoscintigraphy
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of a novel, equine-specific pneumatic compression device on the lymphatic flow of healthy horse forelimbs as determined by Tc-99m sulfur colloid lymphoscintigraphy.ANIMALS: 6 healthy Thoroughbreds.PROCEDURES: In a randomized crossover design, horses underwent bilateral forelimb lymphoscintigraphy following subcutaneous injection of Tc-99m sulfur colloid at the coronary band as untreated control or with pneumatic compression therapy using the EQ Press. Lateral, static images were obtained of the distal limb (time 0 to 60 minutes) and proximal limb (time 30 to 60 minute...

Contralateral lymph node metastasis in recurrent ipsilateral breast cancer with Lynch syndrome: a locoregional event
CONCLUSION: This case highlights the value of delayed lymphoscintigraphy and the contribution of sentinel procedure for local control in the setting of recurrent BC. Aberrant lymph node drainage following previous surgery may be the underlying cause of CALNM. We propose that CALNM without evidence of systemic metastasis should be considered a regional event in recurrent BC, and thus, a curative approach can be pursued. The next AJCC BC staging should clarify the role of CALNM in recurrent BC to allow for the development of specific treatment guidelines.PMID:36755294 | DOI:10.1186/s12957-023-02918-w (Source: Cancer Control)

A perioperative protocol for the management of patent blue V dye-induced hypersensitivity reaction during sentinel lymph node biopsy for cutaneous melanoma
Regional lymph node status in melanoma is an important prognostic factor, where nodal disease carries a less favorable prognosis than localized disease. The sentinel lymph node (SLN) is the first regional lymph node draining the tumor and represents the first site of possible lymphatic metastasis. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) for melanoma can be performed using pre-operative lymphoscintigraphy and intra-operative gamma-probe detection or visual identification using an injected dye. A commonly used dye for melanoma in Europe is Patent Blue V (PBV) [Laboratoire Guerbert, Aulnay-Sous-Bois, France]. (Source: Journal of Pl...

Combined use of magnetic seed and tracer in breast conserving surgery with sentinel lymph node biopsy for non-palpable breast lesions: A pilot study describing pitfalls and solutions
CONCLUSIONS: Combined use of magnetic seed and SPIO for wide local excision and SLNB patients with non-palpable breast lesions appeared challenging due to overlapping magnetic signals. After multiple adaptations, the protocol proved to be feasible with an added advantage of eliminating the use of radioisotopes. We described the pitfalls and solutions resulting in an instruction manual for a totally radioactive-free procedure.PMID:36706578 | DOI:10.1016/j.suronc.2023.101905 (Source: Cancer Control)

Practice patterns of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants treating patients with breast cancer related lymphedema
ConclusionsThere is variability in adherence to recommendations for both the lymphedema diagnosis and intervention CPGs. Interventions to improve implementation and adherence to CPG recommendations are warranted. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Evaluation of Preoperative and Intraoperative Mobile Gamma Camera Imaging in Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy for Melanoma Independent of Preoperative Lymphoscintigraphy
Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is a standard practice for staging cutaneous melanoma. High false-negative rates have an increased interest in adjunctive techniques for localizing SLNs. Mobile gamma cameras (MGCs) represent potential tools to enhance SLNB performance. (Source: Journal of Surgical Research)

99mTc-Rituximab sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy, the effective technique avoids axillary dissection and predicts prognosis in 533 cutaneous melanoma
ConclusionThe novel radiotracer99mTc-rituximab could identify SLNs specifically in SLN lymphoscintigraphy and SLNB in CMM patients, and the pathology obtained from SLNB rather than from RLND better indicated the staging and long-term prognosis. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)
