Series of patients operated for masses and cysts in the heart in a Spanish general hospital: A 20-year experience
CONCLUSIONS: We describe the features of masses and cysts in the heart (77% female patients) and provide information scarcely available in the literature, e.g., the most frequent cardiovascular risk factors for this population. A case of cardiac leiomyosarcoma and a case of intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary trunk are described, two extremely rare tumors for which there are few described cases.PMID:38146947 | DOI:10.23938/ASSN.1060 (Source: Anales del Sistema Sanitario de Navarra)

Survivin-Sodium Iodide Symporter Reporter as a Non-Invasive Diagnostic Marker to Differentiate Uterine Leiomyosarcoma from Leiomyoma
This study aimed to evaluate the use of Survivin-Sodium iodide symporter (Ad-Sur-NIS) as a reporter gene biomarker to differentiate malignant LMS from benign LM by using an F18-NaBF4 PET/CT scan. The PET/CT scan images showed a significantly increased radiotracer uptake and a decreased radiotracer decay attributable to the higher abundance of Ad-Sur-NIS in the LMS tumors compared to LM (p < 0.05). An excellent safety profile was observed, with no pathological or metabolic differences detected in Ad-Sur-NIS-treated animal versus the vehicle control. Ad-Sur-NIS as a PET scan reporter is a promising imaging biomarker that ...

GSE250089 Immune Evasion in Lung Metastasis of Leiomyosarcoma: Upregulation of EPCAM Inhibits CD8+ T Cell Infiltration
Conclusions: EPCAM was upregulated in lung metastases of leiomyosarcoma, suggesting inhibition of CD8+ T cell migration. Our findings suggest that EPCAM could serve as a potential novel therapeutic target for leiomyosarcoma. (Source: GEO: Gene Expression Omnibus)

Phase I study of mTORC1/2 inhibitor sapanisertib in combination with metformin in patients with mTOR/AKT/PI3K pathway alterations and advanced solid malignancies
CONCLUSIONS: The safety profile of mTORC1/2 inhibitor sapanisertib in combination with metformin was generally tolerable, with anti-tumor activity observed in patients with advanced malignancies harboring PTEN/ AKT/mTOR pathway alterations.PMID:38126764 | DOI:10.1158/2767-9764.CRC-22-0260 (Source: Cancer Control)

Challenges in the diagnosis of the enigmatic primary adrenal leiomyosarcoma: two case reports and review of the literature
Primary adrenal leiomyosarcoma is a rare and aggressive mesenchymal tumor derived from the smooth muscle wall of a central adrenal vein or its tributaries; therefore, tumors tend to invade the inferior vena ca... (Source: BMC Endocrine Disorders)

LMNA::NTRK1 Fusion-positive Leiomyosarcoma: Discrepancy between DNA-based Comprehensive Genomic Profiling and RNA Sequencing
Intern Med. 2023 Dec 18. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.2879-23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 26-year-old man presented with a tumor in the left soleus muscle. The tumor was diagnosed as a locally advanced leiomyosarcoma. The patient was treated with irradiation followed by wide resection. One year after surgery, the patient presented with multiple lung metastases. Despite aggressive sequential chemotherapy, systemic metastatic tumors continued to develop. To explore therapeutic options for the patient, we performed DNA-based CGP with FoundationOne® CDx (F1). F1 identified anout-of-strand rearrangement of the NOS1AP::NT...
