Comparison of netarsudil and latanoprostene bunod as adjuncts to maximum medical therapy in primary open-angle glaucoma: a single-centre retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with POAG on MMT, addition of NET was associated with significantly greater magnitude of IOPR and a significantly greater proportion of patients reaching the >10% IOPR threshold compared with exchange of PGA for LB.PMID:35421360 | DOI:10.1016/j.jcjo.2022.03.004 (Source: Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology)

Long-term results of micropulse laser trabeculoplasty with 577-nm yellow wavelength in patients with uncontrolled primary open-angle glaucoma and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma
AbstractOur aim was to evaluate the long-term results of micropulse laser trabeculoplasty (MLT) with 577-nm yellow wavelength in the treatment of glaucoma. We reviewed the medical records of 51 patients (51 eyes) with uncontrolled primary open-angle glaucoma or pseudoexfoliation glaucoma who underwent 180 ° MLT for the first time. The success of MLT was defined as an IOP reduction of ≥ 20% and IOP <  21 mmHg after treatment. If the number of medications was increased or further laser trabeculoplasty or glaucoma surgery was required after treatment, the case was considered unsuccessful. The mean duration of p...

Juvenile open angle glaucoma: current diagnosis and management
Purpose of review The aim of this article is to summarize up-to-date research on the diagnosis and management of juvenile open-angle glaucoma (JOAG). Recent findings JOAG can be subclassified into four clinical phenotypes, and faster myopic shift is a risk factor for disease progression. Vessel density is associated with structural damage and worsening visual acuity in JOAG and can be monitored with optical coherence tomography angiography. Genetic studies have revealed molecular causes of JOAG including variants in CPAMD8, MYOC, and CYP1B1. Tube shunt surgeries as well as gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabec...

Selective laser trabeculoplasty following failed combined phacoemulsification cataract extraction and excimer laser trabeculotomy can control intraocular pressure for a limited time
ConclusionsIn eyes in which the IOP is no longer controlled following phaco-ELT, SLT could be an option to slow disease progression or prolong time until incisional filtration surgery. However, time to failure after SLT is limited. Thus, close follow-up visits are necessary in order to not delay an incisional surgery. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

Efficacy of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty on Circadian Intraocular Pressure Following Trabeculectomy in Advanced Primary Open-angle Glaucoma
Conclusion: SLT is effective and safe in lowering mdIOP to target IOP in about 50% of eyes after prior incisional glaucoma surgery. (Source: Journal of Glaucoma)

Trends in prescriptions for glaucoma and ocular hypertension in France between 2014 and 2019
CONCLUSION: On the one hand, prescribing practices have evolved over the study period. On the other hand, the number of patients treated has increased faster than the growth of the French population over the same period. These findings are consistent with trends observed in previous studies.PMID:35063295 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfo.2021.05.012 (Source: Journal Francais d Ophtalmologie)

A Comparative Study of the Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Pneumatic Trabeculoplasty and Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty for Patients with Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension
CONCLUSIONS Both PNT and SLT can reduce the IOP of patients with POAG and OHT. PNT appears to have better short-term treatment efficiency than SLT.PMID:34958655 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.933454 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Five-Year Long-Term Follow-Up of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty in Open-Angle Glaucoma
CONCLUSION: SLT seemed to be effective in lowering IOP in the first year in the present cohort, however, the long-term effect is low and additional local therapy or surgical interventions are necessary.PMID:34921359 | DOI:10.1055/a-1668-0145 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)
