Predictors of Success in Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty: Data From the Lausanne Laser Trabeculoplasty Registry
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the outcomes of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). Patients and Methods: This was a database analysis (Lausanne Laser Trabeculoplasty Registry) of patients who had SLT between 2015 and 2017. Exclusion criteria were age below 40 years and diagnosis other than ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. Intraocular pressure (IOP) and number of medications were recorded before and at various follow-ups after laser treatment. Success was defined as “complete” if an IOP reduction of at least 20% was observed at a given time, and “qua...

Efficacy and safety of selective laser trabeculoplasty and pattern scanning laser trabeculoplasty: a randomised clinical trial.
CONCLUSIONS: PSLT was not superior to SLT in terms of safety and IOP-lowering efficacy in patients with POAG or OHT. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: The clinical trial was registered in the Centre for Research and Biostatistics Clinical Trials Registry, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Identifier CUHK_CCT00407). Outcome of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty in Young Patients with Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension.
Conclusion: In this study, SLT was found as an effective and safe treatment for young patients with POAG and OHT. High baseline IOP predicted high SLT success. PMID: 32587760 [PubMed] (Source: Journal of Ophthalmology)

Macular burn during an attempted yag laser capsulotomy by inadvertent use of selective laser trabeculoplasty mode of a dual-mode laser
Conclusion: Inadvertent selection of the selective laser trabeculoplasty mode when attempting to perform a YAG laser capsulotomy with a dual-mode laser may cause a macular burn with impairment of central vision. We encourage all users of dual-mode lasers to actively choose and verify the appropriate settings to minimize the risk of inadvertent retinal damage. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

A Survey of Glaucoma Surgery Practice Patterns in the Veterans Health Administration.
CONCLUSION: This survey of glaucoma surgery practice patterns highlights the growing role of LTP and suggests that non-compliance and access remain significant barriers to glaucoma surgical care within the VHA. PMID: 32412083 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Military Medicine)
