Current Insights into Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Clinical Strategies for Prevention and Treatment
CONCLUSION: We propose a multifunctional panel construct and define standard data items for future research into carpal tunnel syndrome. A discussion on idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome, risk factors, combination of therapies, using guidelines-based recommendations and treatment should be initiated.PMID:38385490 | DOI:10.2174/0113894501280331240213063333 (Source: Current Drug Targets)

Dosimetry in cranial photobiomodulation therapy: effect of cranial thickness and bone density
AbstractThis research aims to examine the influence of human skull bone thickness and density on light penetration in PBM therapy across different wavelengths, focusing on how these bone characteristics affect the absorption of therapeutic light. Analyses explored the effect of skull bone density and thickness on light penetration in PBM, specifically using Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for efficacy prediction. Measurements of bone thickness and density were taken using precise tools. This approach emphasizes LLLT's significance in enhancing PBM outcomes by assessing how bone characteristics influence light penetration. T...

Laser acupuncture to reduce temporomandibular disorder (TMD) symptoms: systematic review and meta-analysis
AbstractThe application of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to acupuncture points may produce effects similar to that of needle stimulation in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). This systematic review was conducted according to the Cochrane Collaboration guidelines and aimed to address clinical questions using the following strategy: Patient/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome (PICO). A comprehensive literature search was performed upto April 26, 2023, across nine electronic databases (BVS, PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sc...

Efficacy of scaling and root planing with and without adjunct Nd:YAG laser therapy on glucose control and periodontal microecological imbalance in periodontitis patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a randomized controlled trial
ConclusionNd:YAG laser-assisted SRP therapy has additional benefits in improving periodontal tissue inflammation and blood glucose control in periodontitis patients with T2DM compared with SRP therapy alone and there was a trend towards a decrease in disease-associated taxa and an increase in health-associated taxa following auxiliary Nd:YAG laser treatment.Clinical relevanceThe effects of Nd:YAG laser-assisted SRP treatment on inflammation, glucose control, and subgingival microbiome in periodontitis patients with T2DM were elucidated, and new ideas for the treatment of T2DM periodontitis were provided. Historical and contemporary management of infantile hemangiomas: a single-center experience
Conclusion: Treatment for IHs has evolved over recent decades, with less invasive medical interventions increasingly replacing more invasive methods. Furthermore, a personalized treatment protocol established in this study could boost the cure rate of IHs while minimizing potential side effects and complications. Improved urinary incontinence outcomes following vaginal erbium laser treatment
Introduction and aims: Urinary incontinence is closely associated with the genito-urinary syndrome of menopause (GUM). Vaginal erbium laser therapy is being increasingly advocated as one of the non-hormonal treatments of GUM. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of vaginal erbium laser treatment on urinary incontinence outcomes. (Source: European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology)

Therapeutic efficacy and safety of home-based portable laser irradiation on patients with wrist pain: a single-blinded randomized controlled trial
This study was a prospective, randomized, sham-controlled, and home-based self-therapy trial. A total of thirty subjects with wrist p ain were enrolled. All participants received low-level laser therapy on painful area at the wrist. The experimental group (n = 15) received laser stimulation, while the control group (n = 15) received sham stimulation using identical equipment that generated only a red light without the laser output. Both groups self-treated for 30 min a day, 5 days per week for 3 weeks, total of 15 sessions. The primary outcome was assessed using a visual analogue scale (VAS) for wrist pai n from...
