Postoperative Pain Management in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: An Integrative Review
CONCLUSIONS: A greater tendency to use drug strategies for postoperative pain relief was identified. The drugs used demonstrated efficacy and safety in the treatment of pain, with the exception of nefopam, which showed little benefit in this population. Nonpharmacological interventions, used as adjuvants to drug treatment, were shown to be safe, effective, and well tolerated by the patients.PMID:37999687 | DOI:10.1016/j.jopan.2023.07.020 (Source: Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing)

Efficacy of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy on pain and physical function in patients with non-specific low back pain: a  systematic review
ConclusionPEMF therapy seems to be a  safe and beneficial treatment option for non-specific low back pain, particularly if used as an addition to conventional physical therapy modalities. Future research should focus on standardized settings including assessment methods, treatment regimens, frequencies, and intensities. (Source: Wiener Medizinische Wochenschrift)

Effectiveness of high-intensity laser therapy in the treatment of patients with frozen shoulder: a systematic review and meta-analysis
AbstractThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) in patients with frozen shoulder. PRISMA guidelines were adhered to, and a systematic search was conducted in the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, Science Direct, and PEDro databases (last update: September 4, 2023; search period: December 2022 –September 2023). The inclusion criteria encompassed RCTs comparing HILT with other physical therapy interventions in frozen patients with frozen shoulders, with or without sham HILT, assessing pain intensity, shoulder ROM, and disability outcomes. The quality of the RCTs was...

Vascular Lesions
Facial Plast Surg Clin North Am. 2024 Feb;32(1):13-25. doi: 10.1016/j.fsc.2023.09.003. Epub 2023 Oct 21.ABSTRACTVascular lesions impact up to 5% of children and range in clinical impact from minor cutaneous aberrations to large masses impacting both form and function. Vascular lesions may be characterized as tumors or malformations. Establishing a clear diagnosis is imperative to understanding the natural history of a vascular lesion and developing a treatment plan. Medical, surgical, intralesional, and laser therapy are all effective and indicated on a case-by-case basis. There are a number of important surgical considera...
