Platelet rich plasma for facial rejuvenation: an overview of systematic reviews
This article aims to review the literature and critically appraise the available evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of PRP for facial rejuvenation.MATERIAL AND METHODS: An overview of systematic reviews (SRs) of PRP use for facial rejuvenation. The methodological quality of the SRs was assessed using the AMSTAR-2 checklist; quality of the evidence from the trials included in each SR was appraised following the GRADE approach.RESULTS: Thirteen SRs published between 2015 and 2023, reporting data from 114 overlapping reports, based on 28 individual primary studies (18 uncontrolled reports), were included in this umbre...

Combined treatment of dexamethasone mouthwash and low ‐level laser therapy in the management of aphthous‐like ulcers caused by nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs: A case report
Key Clinical MessageA case of major aphthous-like ulcer was described in a 50-year-old patient. The patient showed the main signs of aphthous stomatitis painful ulcer, 1 –2 cm in diameter, located on the ventral of the tongue, buccal mucosa, and the palate. These ulcers persisted for more than 3 weeks. The patient's self-administration of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) was suggested as the leading cause of aphthous-like ulcers in this case. ulce rs were treated with dexamethasone mouthwash and low-level laser therapy (LLLT). Evidence-informed and consensus-based statements about SAFEty of Physical Agent Modalities Practice in physiotherapy and rehabilitation medicine (SAFE PAMP): a national Delphi of healthcare scientific societies
Conclusions The resulting consensus-based statements inform patients, healthcare professionals and policy-makers regarding the safe application of PAMs in physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice. Future research is needed to extend this consensus on paediatric and frail populations, such as immunocompromised patients. (Source: BMJ Open)

Co2 LASER Therapy as an Option for Non-Healing Surgical Wounds after Radiation Therapy —A Retrospective Study
ConclusionCO2 LASER therapy speeds up the healing process with minimal discomfort to the patient. CO2 LASER therapy can be used as an alternative for non-healing  surgical wounds after salvage surgery in previously radiated  patients with an unhealthy wound bed where split-thickness skin graft uptake is unpredictable. Subthreshold laser treatment for non-center involved diabetic macular edema via non-damaging retinal laser therapy (NRT)
ConclusionNRT performed as needed at 3 monthly intervals is effective after 21  months of follow up in the treatment of non-CI DME and it was safe. With this method, it may be foreseen that BCVA will be better preserved in the long term by avoiding the possible side effects of conventional laser. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

Preclinical assessment of a noncooled MR thermometry-based neurosurgical laser therapy system
CONCLUSIONS: This preclinical assessment showed that the noncooled LITT system was able to precisely reach the target and create well-defined lesions within a margin of safety, without any adverse effects. MR thermometry software provided an accurate near-real-time temperature of the brain tissue, and dimensions of the lesion as visualized by the software correlated well with histopathological findings. Further studies to test the system's efficacy and safety in human subjects are in progress.PMID:38457800 | DOI:10.3171/2023.12.JNS232154 (Source: Journal of Neurosurgery)
