Variability in contrast and apparent diffusion coefficient of kiwifruit used as prostate MRI phantom: 1-week validation
This study evaluated the variability in contrasts and apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCs) via repeated scans of kiwifruits for 1 week. All scans were performed using a 3T MRI system. Six kiwifruits were prepared as phantoms. Each kiwifruit was scanned consecutively for 1 week, and T2-weighted and diffusion-weighted images were acquired. Contrasts between the peripheral placenta (PP) and central placenta (CP), and between the outer pericarp (OP) and CP were calculated. The ADCs of the PP, OP, and CP were also determined. The Friedman test with Scheff é’s post hoc comparison was used to assess contrast and ADC variabil...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 10910: Can the Participation in Quality Certification of Agricultural Products Drive the Green Production Transition?
n Ren The green production transition in agriculture is all about the quality of agricultural products at the source of production. Whether the product quality certification can accelerate the green production transition in agriculture is an issue of concern. We have measured the degree of green production transition of kiwifruit growers using a finite mixture model in this paper, and use research data from the main kiwifruit production areas in Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces to verify the impact of conducting product quality certification on the green production transition of kiwifruit growers. Besides, we use a multi-...

The antifungal activity and mechanism of silver nanoparticles against four pathogens causing kiwifruit post-harvest rot
Post-harvest rot causes enormous economic loss to the global kiwifruit industry. Currently, there are no effective fungicides to combat the disease. It is unclear whether silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are effective in controlling post-harvest rot and, if so, what the underlying antifungal mechanism is. Our results indicated that 75 ppm AgNPs effectively inhibited the mycelial growth and spore germination of four kiwifruit rot pathogens: Alternaria alternata, Pestalotiopsis microspora, Diaporthe actinidiae, and Botryosphaeria dothidea. Additionally, AgNPs increased the permeability of mycelium’s cell membrane, indicating t...

Comparative transcriptome provides insight into responding mechanism of waterlogging stress in Actinidia valvata Dunn
Gene. 2022 Aug 27:146843. doi: 10.1016/j.gene.2022.146843. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTKiwifruit is one of the most popular fruits, and the area of its cultivation in China has grown rapidly over the last decade. However, kiwifruit vines are vulnerable to waterlogging, especially in the extensive areas of south China where it is grown. This has become an important factor limiting yields. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the responses of kiwifruit to waterlogging. Here, we have selected Actinidia valvata Dunn which is able to withstand waterlogging conditions and the waterlogging-susceptible Actinidia deliciosa to pe...

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 5495: Dwarf Kiwi (Actinidia arguta Miq.), a Source of Antioxidants for a Healthy and Sustainable Diet
s Sanchez-Mata The feasibility of using dwarf kiwi fruits (Actinia arguta Miq.) as a healthy and sustainable food, compared to other types of commercial kiwi fruits, was evaluated in the present study. The overall antioxidant capacity of these fruits was assessed by either extraction-dependent methods (ABTS, ORAC) or the direct method called Quick, Easy, New, CHEap, Reproducible (QUENCHER) (DPPH, FRAP, Folin–Ciocalteu), applied for the first time to analyze kiwi fruits. With this methodology, all the molecules with antioxidant capacity are measured together in a single step, even those with high molecular...

Estimating the prevalence of drawing in clinical practice among kiwi doctors
J Vis Commun Med. 2022 Aug 9:1-8. doi: 10.1080/17453054.2022.2106197. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDrawing has played a key role in the development and dissemination of Medicine and Surgery, such as to share anatomy, pathology, and techniques for clinical interventions. While many of the visuals used in medicine today are created by medical illustration professionals, and by imaging techniques such as photography and radiography; many doctors continue to draw routinely in their clinical practice. This is known to be valued by patients, for example when making informed decisions about care. We surveyed doctors in New Zeala...
