Th2-predominant immune response underlies the pathogenesis of Dengue
CONCLUSION: The study reveals a Th2-predominant immune response in all Dengue patients, regardless of disease severity, with overexpression of IL-8 and MIP-1α being observed in patients with warning signs.PMID:38430693 | DOI:10.1016/j.cyto.2024.156562 (Source: Cytokine)

Maternal and Fetal Outcomes in Pregnancy in the Fifth Decade of Life and Beyond
CONCLUSIONS: Extremely advanced maternal age patients are more likely to have pre-existing comorbidities and develop comorbidities during pregnancy. The potential for adverse maternal and fetal outcomes is greater for these pregnancies; however, the complications are diverse and developing a universal complex care plan is difficult.PMID:38423466 | DOI:10.1016/j.jogc.2024.102418 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada : JOGC)

Viruses, Vol. 16, Pages 373: IDV Typer: An Automated Tool for Lineage Typing of Influenza D Viruses Based on Return Time Distribution
Kuchipudi Influenza D virus (IDV) is the most recent addition to the Orthomyxoviridae family and cattle serve as the primary reservoir. IDV has been implicated in Bovine Respiratory Disease Complex (BRDC), and there is serological evidence of human infection of IDV. Evolutionary changes in the IDV genome have resulted in the expansion of genetic diversity and the emergence of multiple lineages that might expand the host tropism and potentially increase the pathogenicity to animals and humans. Therefore, there is an urgent need for automated, accurate and rapid typing tools for IDV lineage typing. Currently, IDV lineage...

Uptake of microplastics and impacts on plant traits of savoy cabbage
Ecotoxicol Environ Saf. 2024 Feb 13;272:116086. doi: 10.1016/j.ecoenv.2024.116086. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAnthropogenic influences such as plastic pollution are causing serious environmental problems. While effects of microplastics on marine organisms are well studied, less is known about effects of plastic particles on terrestrial organisms such as plants. We investigated the effects of microplastic particles on different growth and metabolic traits of savoy cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. sabauda). Sections of seedlings exposed to polystyrene particles were analysed by coherent Raman scattering microscopy. These a...

Three-year outcomes of de novo tacrolimus extended-release tablets (LCPT) compared to twice-daily tacrolimus in adult heart transplantation
CONCLUSION: LCPT is non-inferior in efficacy to IR-tacrolimus in heart transplantation with a similar safety profile. Narrowly-constrained FDA labels specific to kidney transplant remain a barrier to consistent access to many immunosuppressant medications for recipients of non-kidney solid organs. We recommend the FDA consider developing facile pathways for expanding the approved label of extended-release tacrolimus formulations to heart transplant recipients.PMID:38325525 | DOI:10.1016/j.trim.2024.102009 (Source: Transplant Immunology)
