DruGeVar: An Online Resource Triangulating Drugs with Genes and Genomic Biomarkers for Clinical Pharmacogenomics
Conclusions: A user-friendly data querying and visualization interface allows users to formulate simple and complex queries. Such a database would be readily applicable as a stand-alone resource or a plug-in module for other databases.Public Health Genomics (Source: Public Health Genomics)

Cost-Effectiveness of IL28Β Genotype-Guided Protease Inhibitor Triple Therapy versus Standard of Care Treatment in Patients with Hepatitis C Genotypes 2 or 3 Infection
Conclusions: Markov modeling revealed that modest increases in SVR rates from IL28Β-guided triple therapy can lead to both lower costs and better health outcomes than SOC therapy in the long run.Public Health Genomics (Source: Public Health Genomics)

Economic Evaluation of Pharmacogenomics: A Value-Based Approach to Pragmatic Decision Making in the Face of Complexity
This article begins with a review of the need for and use of economic evaluations in value-based decision making for pharmacogenomic testing. Three important gaps are described with examples demonstrating how they can be addressed: (1) projected impact of hypothetical new technology, (2) pre-implementation assessment of a specific technology, and (3) post-implementation assessment from relevant analytical stakeholder perspectives. Additional needs, challenges and approaches specific to pharmacogenomic economic evaluation in the developing world are also identified. These pragmatic approaches can provide much needed evidenc...

Personal Genomics in Greece: An Overview of Available Direct-to-Consumer Genomic Services and the Relevant Legal Framework
Conclusions: While the current legal framework creates a flexible environment that is conducive to DTC genomic operations, it is also ambiguous about the legality of some specific services. Given the growing DTC activity in Greece, we argue that it is important to both enforce compliance with existing law and clarify legal ambiguities that may risk limiting the power of legal protections that ought to be afforded to consumers.Public Health Genomics (Source: Public Health Genomics)

Assessment of the Pharmacogenomics Educational Environment in Southeast Europe
Conclusions: Pharmacogenomics education as well as the continuous enrichment of pharmacogenomics knowledge for health care professionals are fundamental approaches toward personalized medicine. Ideally, pharmacogenomics should be taught as a stand-alone course or at least in the context of genetics courses that already exist in universities in Southeast Europe.Public Health Genomics (Source: Public Health Genomics)

Clinical Application of Pharmacogenomics: The Example of HLA-Based Drug-Induced Toxicity
Pharmacogenomics is gradually becoming more and more indispensable in modern medicine. In several cases, a pharmacogenomics test may alleviate serious drug-induced adverse reactions, if it precedes drug prescription. In this article, we provide an overview of the well-established HLA-based carbamazepine- and allopurinol-induced adverse reactions, as one of the most characteristic examples of the clinical application of pharmacogenomics, highlighting its regional impact in Southeast Asian populations in preventing adverse reactions of certain drug/allele pairs. This example provides useful insights towards evidence generati...

Testing an Online, Dynamic Consent Portal for Large Population Biobank Research
Conclusions: Applying online, dynamic approaches to address the consent challenges raised by biobanks with legacy sample collections should be explored, given the positive reaction to our pilot test and the strong preference for active consent. Balancing security and privacy with accessibility and ease of use will continue to be a challenge.Public Health Genomics (Source: Public Health Genomics)
