Food insecurity and kidney disease: a systematic review
ConclusionsThe relationship between food insecurity and renal disease has been underestimated. Food insecurity is a serious risk factor for health problems in both wealthy and poor populations; however, the true prevalence of the condition is unknown. Healthcare professionals need to take action to prevent the dramatic effect of food insecurity on CKD and on other chronic clinical conditions. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

The effect and safety assessment of monitoring ethanol concentration in exhaled breath combined with intelligent control of renal pelvic pressure on the absorption of perfusion fluid during flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy
ConclusionIn flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy, the groups with fixed RPP had less absorption of perfusion fluid and perfusion volume, shorter duration of surgery, and higher safety than the unfixed group. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

Associations between contrast-enhanced ultrasound features and WHO/ISUP grade of clear cell renal cell carcinoma: a retrospective study
ConclusionsThe features of CEUS are effective for differentiating high-grade tumors from low-grade tumors, thus CEUS can be considered an acceptable method for the preoperative assessment of tumor grade. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

Effects of low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy on lipopolysaccharide cystitis in a rat model of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome
ConclusionBy restoring nerve damage, LiESWT improved lower abdominal pain sensitivity and bladder function in an LPS-induced cystitis rat model. This study suggests that LiESWT may be a new therapeutic modality for IC/BPS. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

Complications of tubeless versus standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy
ConclusionIn comparing tubeless with standard PCNL, there was no difference in readmission rates, or significant Clavien complication rates. Patients undergoing tubeless PCNL experienced higher stone-free rates, but more number of patients required postoperative blood transfusion. The decision to leave a nephrostomy tube after PCNL appears unlikely to impact overall complication rates and can be left to surgeon experience and case-based discretion. Device-assisted intravesical chemotherapy versus bacillus Calmette –Guerin for intermediate or high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer: a systematic reviewer and meta-analysis
ConclusionDevice-assisted intravesical chemotherapy appears to be a safe and viable alternative to BCG for patients with intermediate and high-risk NMIBC, showing comparable oncological outcomes and adverse events. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

Predictive value of systemic immune-inflammation index combined with N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide for contrast-induced acute kidney injury in patients with STEMI after primary PCI
ConclusionPreprocedural high SII and NT-proBNP are independent risk factors for CI-AKI after emergency PCI in patients with STEMI. The combined detection of SII and NT-proBNP can more accurately predict CI-AKI risk than the single detection. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

Evaluating the performance of ChatGPT in answering questions related to urolithiasis
ConclusionOur findings demonstrated that ChatGPT accurately and satisfactorily answered more than 95% of the questions about urolithiasis. We conclude that applying ChatGPT in urology clinics under the supervision of urologists can help patients and their families to have better understanding on urolithiasis diagnosis and treatment. Retrospective study of single-use digital flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy versus miniaturized percutaneous nephrolithotomy for 1.5 –2.5cm lower pole renal stones
ConclusionsSingle-use fURS has similar safety and efficacy to MPCNL in the treatment of 1.5 –2.5cm lower pole renal stones. Single-use fURS may be a new option for the treatment of these stones. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

The ability of phase angle and body composition to predict risk of death in maintenance hemodialysis patients
ConclusionIn conclusion, our findings suggest that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among MHD patients and that lower phase angle, increased age, longer dialysis duration, and hypoproteinemia can be used to predict the risk of mortality in this patient population. The underlying mechanism by which lower phase angle can be used to predict the prognosis of MHD patients warrants further investigation. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)
